first: samurai rules... I sound like a kid. [smile] and I'm not ... I saw when they release them at the movie theatre: Jaws, Midway, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones... some James Bond... Ive been a fan of movies for years, and getting to have my own collection of movies is a hobby and even more, It is a sickness that I have. Hey, don't worry being broke is a great cure... And to have this collection at home is great also, you want to watch a movie? You just pick it from the shelves. Though lately, I tend to rewatch lighter film... Also attending regularly to discussions about movies with friends, who are writing for a living on that subject. Contributes to feed this passion.
A top 10 list is always subject to change, because we are changing as well so this list is from 2004.

Tintin (la srie tl est inspir des films et la qualit de l'animation est trs proche des films) Studio Ghibli : Porco Rosso Nausicaa de la valle du vent Tenku no shiro Laputa /Castle in the sky Spirited Away / Sen to Chiriho no kamikashi Kiki's delivery My neighbor Totoro Princess Monoke / Mononoke Hime Grave of the fireflies Only Yesterday / Omohide poro poro Whisper of the heart Pom Poko the Yamadas The Cat return Owl's castle Those are the ones I know from the studio Ghibli Hopefully, I'll discovers the rest of them so far none of them have disapointed me.
Voici ceux de Disney qui m'ont marqus Blanche Neige et les sept nains / Snow White and the seven dwarf (I love the fact that in those days they translated the signs drawns on the screens. I have a copy on VHS that have all the names of the dwarfs written in french on their bed board... I'm treasuring it. The level of details, such as translating the images, was much higher in thoses days. If they did it in french, they must have done it in other languages as well. This is on VHS tape, will we have this on DVD or even Blu-ray I don't think so, now the edition are not too regional but there is only one edition for a continent if not the world) Le livre de la Jungle / The Jungle Book (pour les chansons et baloo) Aladdin (Robin Williams dans le gnie est justement gnial) La belle au bois dormant / Sleeping beauty (1959 et la mchante Maleficente est vraiment mchante :) Alice aux pays des merveilles / Alice in Wonderland (quelles sont tous les sous-entendus du films, il doit y en avoir des tonnes.) Over the edge, Flushed away Ratatouille
Who framed Roger Rabbit
[smile]
serie anime que j'aime Ghost in the shell; Stand alone complex Cowboy Bebop Last Exile Samurai Champloo Witch Hunter Robin Berserk Noir Love Hina Neon Genesis Evangelion Hellsing Genshiken Samurai 7 Peacemaker Serial Experiments Lain Wolf's Rain Fullmetal Alchemist Samurai Deeper Kyo Crying Freeman
Series that i've just started: Gilgamesh Hyper Police Nadia: the secret of the blue water
Lately animated movies are too commercial, (I don't blame them for wanting to make money) but besides movies like haunted house or even over the edge, I've grown detach from my favorite medium; please just leave the penguins alone...
Titan A.E. Treasure Planet Trigun too much yelling I probably need to watch more... Amazing nurse Nanako supposed to be sexy and funny, well... I didn't think so.

I started a poll on the animation board to have the top 100 animated movies. here are a few linksStill working on it...(update) not anymore... finally, it was too much time and the irregular attendance didn't help. Too bad, I like the idea of having everyone contribute to an ever evolving list... I salute the group of people that make the list over the classic film group, I realise how dedicated you have to be to make it work...

Albert Einstein : Do not worry about your difficulties in mathematics, I can assured you that mine are still greater. Small is the number of them that see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. Violence sometimes may have cleared away some obstructions clickly, but it never has proved itself creative. The most important endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance and even our very existence depend on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to life.Mahatma Ghandi :
You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
Unusual movie theatre experiences :The first film I saw was in the basement of a church and it was an animated film, Tintin et le lac aux requins je crois ...
Midway (1976) In Qubec city, Odon Charest. They had construction scafold on both sides of the theatre above empty seats to support the newly huge speakers to accomodate the sound of this release. Was it temporary just for this movie or was it included in the architecture at my next visit, they were gone or invisible. Cape Fear (1991) in Acapulco in English subtitles in spanish; first movie I saw in another country. Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) at the University of Vancouver in french subtitled in english Pearl Harbour (2001) AMC25 theatre on 42nd St. in New York with a packed room and people shouting at the screen not because it was a bad movie by the way. The people behind me almost knock me off my seat so much they were moving in their seats. When a plane was coming towards us... you get the pictures... There's your average audience (that comment was snobish, oh well) Les triplettes de Belleville (2003) at the Marketplace on Jamboree, Irvine, Los Angeles Les Invasions Barbares (2003) still in L.A. for the oscars so that was cool.
For fun, here is a picture of myself. Good or bad please keep it to yourself. Nonude by the way, you'll thank me later.
