Carrotblanca (1995)

Fun short, now available on DVD
23 October 2005
You can view this animated short if you purchase the Casablanca 2-disc Special Edition DVD.

My only complaint about the short is that it is, well, too short. They could have extended the storyline to put in more gags and references. I'm also a little upset that they left out classic lines ("beautiful friendship") and a semi-important character (Ferrari, which could have been played by Elmer Fudd).

Otherwise, it's a fun little short that fans of the movie (and WB cartoons) will enjoy. It would have been interesting to see how the original WB artists/writers of the "Casablanca" era would have done it, compared to this 1995 version.

This pie is stale.

The first one was funny. This one was just boring. Sure it tried to out-shock the original, but the jokes were far too contrived and the characters were just treading water between the jokes. What the hell was the Oz character even doing in the movie? He spent the entire time just standing around and watching everyone else (and even his phone-sex stuff with his girlfriend was brief and dull). Finch? The tantric thing was funny the first time, but grew tiresome real fast. Stiffler? I found him funny-rude the first time, but just annoying-rude this time around. Only Jason Biggs was funny, and that's because they gave him all the best lines/scenes. Oh, there was another guy in the movie, right? Jeez...I guess he was completely forgettable. Don't waste your time/money on this one. Save it for the video release. 4/10

Painful is the only way to describe it.

You know you're dealing with a bad movie when Corey Feldman is the best thing about it, and even he is at his worst in this one. The dialogue writing is atrocious, the story is worse than cliched, and the characters...well, there aren't any characters in this one. The only reason you'd ever want to waste time seeing this is to laugh at Corey Feldman's solo dance scene. I find it hard to believe that anyone connected to the movie thought that his dancing was "cool". I watched this on the local late night movie channel, and really wished I'd fallen asleep instead.
