I liked it
29 December 2000
Yeah, I liked it. Watched this film with its producer Holland, and enjoyed it greatly. He told me some interesting things about it, like that they couldn't afford a real police-car (low budget) and had to skip a planned scene with this ambulance at the end of the film. But now there's some sort of remaking available with titled Drugdealer, like trying to be more snappy. Basically same cast, haven't seen it yet.

The movie that restored my confidence in Hollywood moviemaking.
16 August 1999
I love L.A. Confidential. When I saw it for the third or fourth time I realized my confidence in american (and especially Hollywood) movies had grown. A lot. Maybe it was the brilliant story weaved around colourful though stereotyphical characters, maybe it was the amazing complexity plot with subtle and surprising turns, the many ways to interpret the dialogue or simply the sharp edge it had towards Hollywood ideals, sort of hidden, set back in the fifties but aiming at the present as well. Maybe it was all of these reasons. It's a brilliant movie, go watch it!

The Trio (1998)

Brilliant acting saves ambitious plot
11 August 1999
Das Trio is a excellent piece of film about a family of three pick-pockets and their struggle to keep everything together, themselves as well as the family unit, situated in present Germany. The story is filled with strong-felt emotions which is beautifully reflected through the characters, and the complexity of the plot thickens increasingly towards the end. At one point I really felt that it was going absurd, but the brilliant acting sort of put it all back and kept the movie real. Because thats what it is; a real movie and I love it.
