Valkanizater (1997)
The end of the Cold War for the Balkans
18 December 1998
It was time for the two countries to give a hand to each other and

start building their film industries by helping each other.I'm

referring to Greece and Bulgaria which were "enemies" for a long time, but now even though they first give each other the worse, started to realise the benefits of a cultural trade. This film stands up for that. The actors from greek television and the money from the both of them. The support given to this film from the greeks is big but in Bulgaria is not known, yet. Personally, after living in Bulgaria for the last 8 years I see that only working and producing together we could end somewhere. Although the film is a very good comedy,I don't see how it could touch english speaking viewers.

The good times of Greek Film Industry
17 December 1998
It is very difficult writing for people who have given so much for their country's film industry, but are unknown to the people abroad."I Aliki sto Naftiko",is a very good example.Performed by the "national actress" Aliki Voujiouklaki in 1960,the film is an

excellent romance-comedy,one of greeks most loved ones. Aliki is the daughter of the Chief-Director of a Naval School Unit(naftiko in greek). She falls in love whith a candidate of the school (Papamichail) and when he goes on an experimental trip around the Aegian Islands with her father she entries the ship secretly where a lot of crazy things start... The film has an excellent score, too. It could be runked as a "greek musical" although only Voujiouklaki did this kind of film with the support of Finos Films, the producer of most of the greek films of that decade.

Fallen Heroes
17 December 1998
The "Fallen Heroes" goes best for a title in English. This is one

of the few greek films of the time talking about the real heroes of our society (ref.greek).The 70 years old character of the film is a retired officer of the greek army who lives with his family from a poor pension that he earned after fourty years of service. At that time a politician offers him an amount so his statue stands up at the center of th town with the term that he 'll be introduced as the member of the society who serves best the country. In the end everything saws that was a very good plan to gain some more money for the politician and he ends up with his old uniform but without boots...and honor!
