City Lights (1977–1987)
Wackiest show after Rocket Robin Hood
24 December 2003
Ok, I haven't thought about this show and all of sudden I'm listening to an internet radio station that pumps out George Benson's Breezin'. I never knew it as Breezin' just the damned theme song to this show. I remember Brian being a very unctuous, smarmy guy and me never being able to sit through it (I was also 8-12 at the time and had no patience for that kinda crap)

I also remember Martin Short (fellow Canadian) doing a dead-on impersonation of Brian Linehan (a man more tanned than even George Hamilton).

Anyhow, just hearing those 12 flute notes unlocked a whole treasure trove of childhood lunchtime memories.

For those of you who group in the Toronto area you'll remember City Lights was on City TV (what was Channel 79, now Channel 57, cable 7). Miss my Toronto.

Kill Me If You Can (1977 TV Movie)
Dead Man Walking has nothing on this!!!
22 March 2001
Oh man, I saw this when I was about 9 at hotel somewhere in Pennsylvania (this was in 1977!) and the thing that haunted me for years, years!! - was the image of Alan Alda strapped into the gas chamber and being executed.

The admonition of the guard to 'breathe deeply, it'll be easier' was so chilling that I can remember it to this day! I've never seen the movie since but those images are so vivid I can't forget them!

On a political note, it makes you think about capital punishment and whether or not you're for or against it, it does spark a debate on how punishment is administered.
