What a fabulous film, one which will stay with me for quite some time. A moving story filled with wonderfully developed characters. One of the best films I've seen in awhile. Rawiri Paratene's performance was superb and Keisha Castle-Hughes is a most talented young actress that deserves every award bestowed upon her. Get ready Oscar and Golden Globes! Cheers to the producers and directors who created such a beautiful masterpiece and to all the great actors who provided us with such realistic portrayals.

Staircase

Quite Enjoyable!

This film was one of the best for its' time and subject matter. I salute Rex Harrison and Richard Burton for taking on such unconventional roles in 1969. I really loved this movie, and came to understand and appreciate what gay life was like in London in those days.
Annie
(1999 TV Movie)
"Annie" is Simply Grand!
8 November 1999
What an enjoyable movie! I only wish that the networks could bring more staged productions to TV, and do it this well. The music and performances were wonderful--Victor Garber and Audra MacDonald are a magnetic presence. Having never seen a production of "Annie" before, I was pleasantly surprised at how moving the story was, and how really good the music is. This production of "Annie" could have easily gone the route of sickeningly sweet schmaltz, but it rose above that level. The actors (including a highly enjoyable Annie in Alicia Morton) and the producers are to be credited for not making this into an over-the-top spectacle, yet successfully allowing the special theatrical values to shine through.
Clean and Sober
(1988)
Kudos to Keaton!!

Michael Keaton is fantastic in "Clean and Sober". What a great performance. The film itself is a fairly good analysis of the drug rehab process--the process of denial to acceptance. The first half of the film is particularly good, but it gets a bit uneven toward the latter half when it strays from its original premise into a romantic entanglement. All in all, Keaton really delivers in this one--Daryl is at times pathetic, funny, sympathetic, and just a plain sleaze. However, "Clean and Sober" shows quite well what lengths the addict will go to, and the "multiple personalities" he will take on, in order to get that next snort or the next drink.
