To make it as realistic as possible from a survival perspective.
The things that scared me the most were getting smashed up on the rocks at the foot of an un-scaleable cliff, drowning in rough seas, getting attacked by crocodiles, getting bitten by a king brown snake, getting blown off-course to Indonesia, not being able to find water, needing rescue and the subsequent embarrassment!!

Your outlook on life needs to be in a strong position before you try something like this. If your outlook wasn't conducive to this kind of thing it's a pretty unforgiving place to try and find a new one! Having said that, it's a great way to reset your appreciation for the small things in life. I've resolved to eat and drink more! Iced coffee, chocolate and alcohol should not be taken for granted!
