Not great vets.
leftyleghorn8 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Someone already mentioned that bull didnt need to die. She needs to watch dr. Pol. Took a long time to wake goat. After vitals were good on dog hit by car. Why not lightly sedate and xray instead of feeling him all over and wasting time? I would allow very few of these vets to touch my pets.

Good and bad, mostly a bit boring
dspotten-255-8213408 April 2019
Some interesting info at times. I would like to hear a PSA about NOT continuing to breed these dogs that need a cesarean every time. Yes, I have issues with breeders. Dr. Jeff would just spay.......

Bloated bull
lgr-831591 April 2019
I watch a lot of animal shows and this one Is boring. That poor bull didn't have to die. The Vet waisted so much time using that tube. Dr. Jan Pol would have immediately used the puncture technique and would have saved him.

Gives me a headache!
catlvr142 April 2019
I watch a ton a animal/vet shows and love them, but this show is not for me. I find it chaotic and the background noise drives me crazy. Almost feels like I'm watching home movies.

There's something to editing, a lot
julescaroline1 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Most animal shows have a decent narrator and flow. Because this is live, it wains. The situation with the bull, the owner and the vet were clueless. If you have a call involving a bull, you need to have a clue. A syringe should not have been used to relieve pressure, a tube should have been used. All the dancing around about how to handle the bull stressed him and it cost him his life. The vet was constantly asking for the people around to be helpful. Very frustrating to watch, clueless people shouldn't be owners.

Great medicine--refreshing!
alliecat-478817 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a veterinarian, it is so refreshing to see a show that highlights good quality medicine in an urgent care setting (though Dr. K and Vet Life are both really good as well!).

More than any other show, this one highlights the moment-to-moment life in a busy referral hospital better than any other. For people who are interested in the medical side of veterinary practice more so than the human stories, this is the PERFECT show--the format helps convey the appropriate sense of urgency associated with many of these conditions and the rapid, efficient delivery of high-quality veterinary care. I have worked in various capacities in referral medicine for 10 years prior to veterinary school and then for years afterwards and I can attest to the professionalism of these colleagues and high standard of care they provide their patients.

People who are referring to Dr. Pol as "superior" really just need to turn off the TV. That man is practicing in the 1950s and he should have his license pulled for negligence and malpractice, IMHO.

Also, regarding the bull--that patient was on death's door by the time the veterinarian arrived, and you cannot move a 2500 pound animal who is likely in pain by yourself. What magic do you want the veterinarian to perform by herself without asking for help from the owner?? EVERY livestock client is used to helping hold things for the vet, grab equipment etc. Much more commonly the bull is actually in a chute by the time the vet gets there and the entire situation is much more easily handled and safe for all involved. Deliverying treatment in a timely manner is also much more likely if the owner has actually a) recognized the illness in a timely manner and b) brought the animal to a headchute. Large animal vets have been killed with a well-placed kick in these cases where they are in the middle of an open field. And P.S. to that previous reviewer--the "girls" handle the bulls the same way the boys do--WITH DRUGS. No many is wrestling a 2500 pound bull to the ground. You are revealing your sexism and ignorance.

Not for me
tweetyakatoot2 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't see this show making it. I absolutely don't like the narrative/news like approach. The horse being totally sedated & laid on his back for gelding? No way! The bull died because one single vet who clearly isn't a farm vet goes on a call and can't handle the animal & depends on bystanders to help. Nope... not for me. I watch every vet show on t.v. but won't be watching this this one again.

Edit and timing are terrible, so is narration
painwraith-296-355982 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This show needs so much work. It's boring and chaotic at the same time. Stick with a story instead of bouncing aimlessly across the country. That bull should NOT have died. The indecisive vet let this poor animal become so bloated and stressed when she should have put in a trocar to fix the bloat then dealt with the other stuff. Needless waste of a poor bulls life.

Not worth watching
antiquelady013 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show is too choppy, amateurish, and I agree that the bull did not have to die. Ill trained girls trying to do vet work they were not capable of doing. The overtalking of the presenters was amateurish and irritating to say the least. This is not a Live PD show, nor a good vet show and needs to go off the air.

Bull bloat in Fort Bragg, CA
mynette-480356 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this episode 2 days ago and am still bothered. I'm sure most viewers who watch animal care programs must have watched this segment in horror. Particularly seeing the difference of the bull standing to laying down, how much more extended his bloat was, why the choice of a needle over a trochar, what was she thinking. Suggest watching a couple episodes of The Incredible Dr. Pol as a training video might be advisable. My comments on the program itself, again, watch Dr. Pol for tips on how to film. Want to see how they are treating the animal patient not the faces of who is treating them.

Awful!
mbryson525 April 2019
I had to turn it off, and this is from someone who loves animal shows. Too much jumping around and the cases, outside of a couple, just weren't interesting. I didn't feel connection to the animals, their humans (the few they showed) or the doctors. The narration served no real purpose, and the actual camera footage was chaotic - a very frustrating viewing experience. This was a dud!

This show is terrible
davidmorlok4 April 2019
We love watching animal shows, but this one is horrible. The worst editing, story line is difficult to follow, entirely too much background noise, and terrible veterinarian care.

Garbage
csr19177 April 2019
I had high hopes, but my hopes were dashed within a few minutes of trying to watch Animal ER Live. Maybe the idea was to be the anti-Jan Pol; i.e., younger, modern-thinking vets who are going to show us the "right" way to do things. In theory, that could be a good idea, but the execution here is just...well, the first word that comes to mind is "garbage." I love animal shows. I enjoy watching Drs. Pol, Oakley and Jeff. Perhaps the creators of Animal ER Live could review what makes those doctors's shows a success and emulate it.

Will Draper should have stuck with his own show
squaregav-831117 April 2019
Will Draper made a huge mistake abandoning his show for this mess. Dr. Draper and his wife are much better doctors, and their staff is much more talented than the seemingly fresh-out-of-vet school people on this disaster. I agree with the others who stated that the doctors and staff on "The Incredible Dr. Pol", "Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet", "Dr. Jeff, Rocky Mountain Vet", "Vet Life", "Dr. K, Exotic Animal E.R.", and, to a lesser extent, "The Adventures of Buckeye Bottoms". This choppy, narrated format is horrible, and the show exposes the hospitals' for-maximum-profit decisions. Disgraceful.

Most boring and mistitled show
hewald-105527 April 2019
The title is misleading since Most of the issues do not involve any real emergencies at all. The bloated bull episode was sad to watch and mishandled by that vet. Bloat was so easy to see and so was the easy remedy. Any of the other vets on other shows would have saved that animal. Whoever runs the show is a fool. Nothing like starting with a dog brought to the er due to a " horrible" dog fight and switch to some non emergency situation is just plane stupid. Would much rather watch reruns of other vet shows than new episodes of this one. Sure hope Dr Jeff or Yukon Vet stay available.
