I watched this a few weeks after the final episode was first broadcast on television.
In that time. Cressida Dick, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Force in London resigned. She was frankly a bit rubbish at her job and unable or unwilling to deal with troubling toxic issues within her police force.
One of her police officers was arrested for abducting, raping and killing a woman. Other police officers were sharing images on social media of two murdered black sisters and making fun of it. Some police officers at Charing Cross station exchanged WhatsApp messages about hitting and raping women, as well as the deaths of black babies and the Holocaust.
That just a few examples of rampant misbehaviour among the police. It is not a case of few bad apples. Racism, sexism, homophobia is just part of a wider toxic culture.
Yet the the chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said the atmosphere among police officers was at rock bottom following the resignation of Commissioner Cressida Dick. The London police had no faith in London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
Anyone watching this series should be angry that three young men needlessly died because the police did not investigate the murders properly. They did not even make an effort apart from feigning sympathy for the victims families.
By the end of the third episode. There was a caption that states: None of the officers involved in any of the investigations has been formally disciplined, and five have since been promoted.
At last, some police officers unconnected with the original enquiry follow up some new leads when a fourth body is found. It all pointed to Stephen Port.
It was left to the actors playing the friends and family members of the victims to convey the frustrations, anger and the sadness. I did not envy them.
