The most unlikable bunch of guys on Tv they are always calling each other family, brothers, then at the first sign of trouble they are back stabbing each other, moaning whining accusing. Only nice guy on it was Jessie and he gone now. Come on Dozer Dave are these the best guys you could find?

Decent Gold Rush material but centers too much around Dave Turin
tweetien13 April 2020
I've been a huge fan of Gold Rush since season 1, and have watched every episode up until now. Where the normal Gold Rush feels less scripted than Dave Turin's Lost mine, it is still a decent watch. There are some very cringe moments in which the crew praises Dave Turin as if he is some saint, which gives me the impression that there was a set agreement at the start of the season to praise Dave at every opportunity. The exploration of other mines is interesting, but the calculations afterwards are just odd and it feels like they're just naming (big) numbers to sound interesting. Where I rate Gold rush normally a 8, I rate this show a 6.

I like the rush, but...

Warning: Spoilers
In a scripted and templated show the production and editing crew manages to get maximum production value out of very little footage - this from setup in a very repetitive, operation based industry.

As a (very) small time gold investor, I enjoy watching the mechanics of getting gold out of the ground, even though there really is not much else going on to peak ones fascination - although there is a lot to fuels ones infuriation.

As an IT manager I've caught myself identifying a number of issues with the way Dave is running his operation . I must say I hope most of the issues are "fake", and are "created" to keep the viewer interested, because there are a lot of really silly and easily mitigated mistakes going on in this show.

1. Not using the wonders of modern day technology to your advantage.

Why in the world is the team waiting for Dave to show up before letting him know that there is some problem with the progression of finding gold? Why aren't they calling him? We've invented mobile phones for this exact reason. It gives you the possibility of communicating with people even from great distances. Why would you not use this to your advantage?

2. No risk management A lot of the issues arising are down to the fact that Dave isn't really keen on doing easy risk management. In the latest episode I watched it was a surprise to the team that they had to water the road because of dust issues. The team were told that the rock quarry had had numerous complaint of dust from all the neighbours. Why not ask the simple question: "Any trouble or complaints I should be worried about?" before leasing the ground? It would be so easy and save Dave thousands in mitigation costs.

3. Bad team management If you have a team member say to you at the end of the season: "Listen, the season is over, we reached our goal, I lost my best friend in the process and I miss my wife and kids. So no, I don't want to expand the season five weeks to continue the adventure. I love you and I hope you understand." Just to pull him right back, because you need a water truck. That's really uncool and a sure way to break your employees spirits.

4. Planning (have spare part or know how to get them) Lastly, why Dave haven't made any plans on how to get spare parts if something breaks is beyond me. A broken bolt can apparently set an mining operation back 6 weeks. A little bit of pre-season planning would get Dave a long way.

I'll still be watching the show though with the hopes that most of the drama is created for the views. If not, I really hope Dave reads this and that he makes the very small and obvious changes to make his operation just a little more professional. He most know that protentional business partners are watching as well and can see all the silly mistakes that all us uninitiated viewers can so easily identify.

A primer on what a leader should be
amyptr11 May 2022
If I were leading a class of management trainees, I would highly recommend that they watch this series. Dave Turin inspires and builds a strong team. I amazed at the negative reviews. I was captivated by this series. I have watched the other gold series with Hoffman whining, Parker telling his people to "figure it out"., and Tony Beets being bleeped every other line. This was so refreshing.

I also like the Freddy Dodge series with Juna Ibarra. Nice guys!

Of course I may be biased, I love a series with Christian, family men who care about each other and their families.

Perfect mix of gold, family and commitment

Dave Turin is the best of the best. Not because of his gold mining skills. But the love for the people he employs.

same old show

Same old show, nothing new. They all fail eventually. Talk about losing food for there kids mouths with simple work problems that anyone would encounter on a daily basis. Why so dramatic.....

Good team! I look forward to more!

I like this show so far. I agree with character development. So far Casey, Chris, and Nathan seem like great team players. I like the little funny things that happen during the show. Casey's funny faces and the part about the cow is funny. They all seem like good southern type guys. So glad to see things turned out good for Casey and Dave. Both seemed like they were working with *******'s before. I am rooting for this team and they all deserve some good gold!

This Is NOT Crap --- That Would Be An Insult To Crap.

OMG, could TV show producers seem any more desperate to milk every last ounce of footage out of a franchise that's already been beaten to death? This reeks of unmistakable phoniness, you can see the nonstop scripted (very poor) acting that tries desperately to be "reality" programming. Idiotic and vapid storyline, mind-numbingly-stupid plot twists, with poor Dave looking hither and yon for something decent to mine.

SAVE YOURSELF BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!! After about an hour of watching this dreary, oddly-draining, pointless drivel, you'll want to stab yourself in the eyes so you can't watch anymore. And then run out and deliberately try to catch the coronavirus so you can have a swift death with at least *some* dignity.

A flimsy unbelievable storyline and a hugely repetitive edit.
john-2512412 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Seems really scripted with a flimsy unbelievable storyline regarding stop / start permissions to mine from the "investors" and "landowners" Lots of fake trepidation, a huge amount of repetition in the edit and not much real content. There are some really likeable characters on this show, unfortunately Dave Turin isn't one of them.

Way too much emotional bs. The big fat dumb mechanic needs to shut up. Oh it feels so good to turn on the plant, it feels so good to wash rocks, it feels so good to have water, blah blah blah. Just shut up already loudmouth!!

I had to finally Google..."Dave Turin is an idiot." I guess if I Googled anyone of notoriety I might find the same but His loyalty and respect to anyone is based only on his beliefs and benefits. His saying "Family", only seams a metaphor.

Utter Garbage
andrewrye-0653513 April 2019
If you thought Gold Rush had gone downhill, this starts at the bottom and works its way down. He has investors and wastes time looking in areas where there is nothing then surprise, one of the investors has property he can mine. Said investor then pulls out at the last minute meaning they have to find somewhere else. So he has to invest his own money to dig under a lake... and all the while it's full of 'if we don't find gold soon we're all gonna die penniless' You've heard it all before and it's worse than ever. This is obviously scripted with a weak story line - watch when he goes to Dad for sage advice. His Dad looks bewildered and basically just tells him to go do it. Probably to get rid of the whining idiot. Overly dramatic, thin plot, no real reason for this at all, just History squeezing the last drop out of the gold searching story and scraping the barrel while doing it. Don't waste your time, go to the dentist and get a tooth pulled, it'll be less painful. It's a 1 because I can't select 0.

Fair series, for what it is. The loss of Jesse Goines saddens me.
collectorofsorts29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not really familiar with the Gold Rush show that Dave used to be on. I may have watched a few episodes years ago. But, I can't really remember his role in it. This one is good, however. I do believe the "investors" portion of the show is just a scripted story. Seriously, does anyone think that part was real? When they actually started mining though, the show was great. As was the prospecting of sites beforehand. The only thing that actually bothers me about the show is that it seemed to only last 4 episodes. As soon as you get interested with the first 3 shows you get the #4, end of the season show. Didn't like that at all. UPDATE: I've seen the first 4 Episodes of season 2 and I'm not impressed. At the first sign of trouble, Dave picks up and starts looking for new ground instead of sitting down and figuring out what the problem is. His guys are working their behinds off trying to find better ground on the claim they're already set up on and Dave's on the road looking for new ground. SHAMEFUL! Get your act together Dave. 2021 Update: We're into season 3 now. They're having a good season and everyone is happy. Dave's dad died and I feel like they 'milked it' for ratings. Now Jesse Goines dies of a suspected heart attack. He was one of the really likable characters and that saddens me. But, he died doing what he loved during their best season ever. So, he died happy doing what he loved doing.. How many people get to go out that way?

Mines lost. Hypocrisy found.
mgorjanc3 July 2021
Blowhard Dave, noted historian in his own twisted mind, likes to invoke the memory of "the old timers." Davey-Boy must have skipped some school because he seems to have forgotten a few minor details. Guess what, Blowhard? The "old timers" committed the genocide that ruthlessly murdered the Native Americans, sweeping them from the land Blowhard and Friends seem to believe is their birthright. Their bogus faith in God, the quaint commitment to family, their stilted piety - it is all so sickening. You can't have it both ways, unless of course you're Blowhard Dave.
