Female prisoners in a US maximum-security prison explain how they got to be facing Life Without Parole, even though they did not 'pull the trigger'. They made bad decisions which left them in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong person. Is it just that they rot in prison even though they didn't actually kill anybody? Does the law need reforming to treat such offenses differently? Does the concept of 'Culpable Homicide' need rethinking, whereby being at the scene of the crime with the perpetrator often lands you Life Without Parole? And why are women treated more harshly than men in this criminal justice system?
