Eh.

Could have been better. I could already tell it was going to be so-so when the "dead" girl at the dinner table opened her eyes after the "dead" guy hit the table at the beginning.

Husky-voiced Beautiful Bergenesque Lead
bkzsmith26 June 2019
What I like about this movie is the attractive Polly Bergen-type granny. And that's about all. The stop-start, startle-each-other moments are a bit overdone. The overly-dramatic scary music fit for a monster's appearance comes down like a sledgehammer at every twist & turn. Pregnant Samantha won't drink wine but she eagerly takes a cup of strong exotic tea? As I said, I love Polly Bergen, so when the granny is on camera it's at least interesting to watch.

The Perfect Little Family
lavatch5 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Coleen is the granny predator in search of the perfect family. Apparently independently wealthy, she is not seeking monetary gain from her victims. Instead, she wants to be the center of attention in an idealized family. In the character of Samantha Kirkpatrick, she believes she has finally struck the mother lode.

Samantha is predisposed to co-dependency. She is a bleeding heart who will be a sucker for a sob story. Colleen easily dupes Samantha into believing that she is her grandmother, who gave her mom up for adoption. The film seeks to unfold how deep Colleen gets her tentacles into Samantha. Despite the attempts of Samantha's husband Brad to urge his wife to proceed with caution in her newfound relationship, Samantha does not pay heed to his advice.

The filmmakers could not quite walk the line between dark comedy and the horror genre. It was unpleasant that Colleen had to knock two interesting characters out of the film, including Brad's colleague and Samantha's bestie Aimee. While there were some snappy lines of dialogue for the former nurse Colleen ("I dabble in a little needlework"), the villainess was far too unpleasant from start to finish.

The elements of this film seemed all too predictable. It was not made clear why Colleen had given up a daughter for adoption. The appearance of Melanie as a "deus ex machina" at the end seemed especially strained. The viewer had to wonder who was this stranger breaking the door down in the nick of time. Melanie also showed just a little too much empathy for her birth mother whom she just conked over the head. Melanie wants Colleen to get help that she needs, but it didn't seem very likely that Melanie would be paying many visits to a mother in a nut house.

Terrible acting.
ajs-photography6 November 2020
Just bad. The acting is stiff and awkward, the writing is bad, the best part of it is the grandmother and even her lines are less than convincing. The storyline is weak and I literally couldn't care less about any of the characters, none of them are really that likeable or have much personality. They're just boring people with boring lines I'm afraid.

Anyone else catch the granny "knitting" the baby blanket that was actually crocheted?

Dumb Warning: Spoilers
Strong healthy people in their 20's and 30's are all easily overpowered and murdered by a 60 something psycho grandma. My favorite scene was when granny tied a string around a 30 year old woman's throat who doesn't even try to kick granny's brittle legs behind her to escape the hold and instead just gasps like a helpless idiot in wide eyed fear before buying the farm.

What makes it all the more baffling is that 5 minutes earlier the 30 year old was feisty as hell and acted like she was itching to take on the old woman when she found out her secrets.

But one string wrapped around her neck by granny's arthritic hands and she drops like an anchor lol. Please! Just kick her leg behind you and grab her brittle arms for God sake. Then again it was hard to tell if this was serious or a comedy. Either way it sucked.

A lot of flaws

Warning: Spoilers
End scene where Samantha was on the floor and Mel was ringing the door bell, Mel magically got in and as she was coming into the room and Sam was facing the other way she screamed "Melanie, help!". How did she know who it was if she wasn't looking the same way? How did Mel get in?

Good title, but went downhill after that
tomfsloan2 June 2019
Why does the grandmother not look like a grandmother? She doesn't have to look like granny Clampett, but at least give her some gray hair. Overall, somewhat entertaining despite the less than stellar acting. Unlike every other Lifetime type movie where all the woman constantly drink wine, our heroine here actually drank water! Why would the Brad Pitt looking guy ever question the grandmother why she is visiting the granddaughter when it's late? That seemed dumb. The bathroom scenes were way overdone. Too much curiosity about how each other are doing in there. Too many times they startled each other when the door opened. The acupuncture dialogue was amusing.

Good little (comedy?) drama
davlaw-206386 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I found this movie (Lineage of Lies, UK Netflix) quite enjoyable and maybe I shouldn't say this, but amusing! Robin Riker acts well, the others not quite as good. Implausible though how a (60 plus?) woman physically totes around dead or unconscious 30 somethings! Well worth the watch despite that. Oh, and by the way, it's not unusual for grannies to be attractive!

Just keep reading
vrmaggie10 January 2021
People be giving less stars because as they claim the acting was bad. Everyone really tries so hard to play it expert when it comes to movies. Just sit down and watch the movie. It wasn't a perfect movie but it was definitely enjoyable and not half as bad acting as the majority of all new movies. Definitely has some flaws but you can't have everything in life. Don't hesitate and go watch that movie. It's really good

OK but not as good as "Killer Grandma"
phd_travel29 May 2019
Older ladies behaving badly is a fun and entertaining trend. This one is quite over the top with the body count quite high. A woman pretends to be the grandma of a woman who lost her mom recently. Friends and loved ones are sceptical. It's quite fun as she insinuates herself into her victims life. Not a lot of explanation for the psycho behaviour though. The other recent similar Lifetime thriller "Killer Grandma" was slightly better.

Granny gone cray cray ...
ginasharp26 August 2022
This was an okay bored on a rainy day watch. Not a top one for me but okay. She does go psycho as the title tells us so that was fun to watch but it seemed more like a spoof than a movie. Haha.

Good plot
myfairies-391-56135512 November 2020
Yes the acting is very stiff but this is a really good story line. If this was Hollywood produced with box office money it would have been an amazing film. But I still enjoyed it.

Visual satisfactory
naynay-8280230 November 2021
Horrible casting, even Sigorny Weaver knows how to play a grandmother with brown hair. Story was weak but the cinematography was very satisfactory. That's the reason I gave it 7 stars.
