"The Last Hangover" is a fairly new Netflix production, a short film directed by Rodrigo Van Der Put that runs for slightly under 45 minutes and is a Brazilian production in the Portuguese language. And as you may or may not guess from the photo here on imdb, this one is a little spoof of Jesus' Lastg Supper mixed with the recent comedy classic The Hangover. Well, it could have been interesting and funny I suppose, but eventually in my opinion, it is not. It is not particularly offensive as it could have been being verfy much anti-religion, but it is a tolerable watch from this perspective. Maybe, actually taking this route would not have been the worst decision because there could have been some edgy material this way, some controversy, but instead they were playing it really safe here and the outcome is fairly boring admittedly. As for the cast, unless you are very interested in South American films, you will not know any of the actors. Even if you are Brazilian, chances are high you have never come across any cast members here. Maybe a more established and experienced director and writer other than RVDP could have turned it into better quality I don't know, but in my opinion it shows occasionally that this is his first filmmaking effort overall. Now I have seen really excellent rookie efforts by filmmakers, but sadly this is not one of these. I must say given the country of production and language, I am pretty surprised to see Netflix attached here. Not their wisest choice perhaps. In my opinion, this film dragged way too quickly and for such a short work, it is even worse to make such a statement that applies. Overall, this is not a failure, but far from being as funny as I would want it to be for a positive recommendation. Watch something else instead. It's not a creative parody by any means.
