I'm not a screenwriter but it occurred to me there are infinite ways any plot can go. Is keeping it mundane in parts considered necessary in order to maintain a sense of reality? In any case, I have a feeling things will become more interesting thanks in no small part to the interesting main character having more screen time thanks to the death I mentioned.
