Too Painfully Real

Civilians that never Served the U.S. Military have NO CLUE.

You can call that Brainwashing, Psychological Reprogramming, Conditioning, or whatever, is what U.S. Army Basic Combat Training is intended to do. As Psychologically and Physically removing the Civilian from Individuals to become "Soldiers", "Airmen", "Sailors", "Marines" that basically will sacrifice the Individual Self for the Greater Good. The U.S. Military Service Members then become their Family.

Once you Enlist, it is not like you can drop everything and come home during a 6 Year Enlistment. When you are in Combat your previous Civilian World, Life, becomes inconsequential, getting U.S. Military Leave (Vacation) to visit your previous Civilian Life is like deserting your U.S. Military Family. You become almost like a Knight Templar of TV Series Knightfall, leaving to visit your previous Civilian Life appears almost as being selfish.

Your Civilian Life becomes baggage left behind with the REMFs (Rear Echelon Mother F---ers).

This is why U.S. Military Service Members have such a difficult nearly impossible time of reintegrating into the Civilian World. I have seen this too many times, ever since being "Drafted" to the Vietnam War, reentering the U.S. Military as a Commissioned Officer.

This becomes very obvious when you hear "Thank You For Your Service", being said as almost like somebody wiping their nose after sneezing. While knowing that they would not piss on you if you were on fire.

There are also the Job Interviews, especially the common "How many people did you kill", my response is usually " Over fifty then I stopped counting......Is that what you are hiring me to do?"
