Any other similar show would just take the easy route and kill off the character when the actor wants out. Not this show, I really liked what they did here. They gave Samar a truly heartbreaking, yet amazing send off. I couldn't hold the waterworks during the final few scenes.

Perfection in all facets

I have never been this moved by a show in very long time. The emotions, the drama, the choices one makes. A lot of life lessons - and a lot of emotions (yes I mentioned it again).
Morzhan Marno is a beautifully talented actress. I have never seen such a complex character being pulled off so well.

One of the best episodes!

Honestly, i just couldn't hold my tears dropping. even though it was clear Samar and Aram won't see each other after that kiss in the forest, i've had a glimpse of hope for some sort of good ending for both of them.but i guess that's what makes a good drama. :-(
They performed it just perfectly! that's why The blacklist should never end! Love that show!
A perfect ending to a perfect episode!

So glad the writers gave such substance to Samar's leaving! A couple of episodes ago I was so upset that it was looking like the only real reason they were giving for her departure was a pretty mild case of aphasia. This makes far more sense. Samar was one of my favourite characters. I will miss her terribly. She was my role model, I wanted to be like her -- you know, when I finally grew up. Another reviewer criticized Aram for being so emotional and stupid, but I have to disagree. Yes, he is our sad little puppy, and sometimes, just sometimes, it does feel a little over done (just a little, and just occasionally), but not this time. I felt his pain, and it felt justified. He was quite restrained in my opinion. His character is the eternally innocent romantic. But he still can do what he has to do despite fear, despite his innocence. That is what makes him also such an excellent character (and another favourite). He has honour -- and that is not something many people these days do.
Excellent episode. Glad to see that the writers had cut short their surfing trip (have to see earlier review).

Sure the whole series requires a suspension of disbelief to an extent but to me this episode took it too far. The idea that you kill someone because of dementia I found completely implausible simply because if that happens you could easily prevent the person from divulging secrets by keeping them in a safe house or secure facility; that's what you'd do if you had any kind of conscience. Furthermore more, ppl with dementia are not reliable so the idea that you'd trust the accuracy of anything they say is a real stretch. Otherwise It was an good episode and very tense and emotional.
Big Mouth Dumbo blows it
Johnny_West30 June 2023
Every TV series seems to have one mentally insipid character with a big mouth. Go back as far as Gunsmoke, and Chester could never keep his mouth shut and was always getting the rest of the gang into trouble. He was replaced on the show by Festus, who was also a bit dim.
Modern crime shows like NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc. Always seem to have some marginal member of the cast who is on there to be the funny goofball and to fumble the ball when it matters.
On Blacklist it was Agent Mojtabi (played by Amir Arison) who got Samar (Morzhan Marno) on the rebound from her much more masculine Mossad boyfriend (played by Oded Fehr of the Mummy movies fame).
Even though Samar never looked like she was in love with Amir Arison, he stalked her endlessly until she gave in to a boring relationship where she never smiled when she was with Amir. Talk about a hostile work environment. She could have sued the FBI and gotten a couple million dollars...
Thanks to Amir / Agent Mojtabi's main skill of being useless, Samar ended up getting kidnapped by a serial killer, and almost drowned (in an earlier episode). As a result, she developed a form of dementia, which she kept a secret from everyone.
Unfortunately, her loser boyfriend Amir / Mojtabi was constantly checking her phone, her emails, and otherwise invading her privacy, and he found out about her dementia.
Almost immediately, like five minutes after he discovered Samar's secret medical condition, he met Oded Fehr, Samar's ex-fiancee, and blabbed it to him, because Amir wanted Samar's ex-boyfriend to give him some best-friend advice. In Amir's moronic mind, the Mossad spy / ex-boyfriend of Samar was his secret friend. NOT.
All hell breaks loose when Fehr orders a hit on Samar because he is afraid that she is a Mossad liability due to her dementia. After some good chases and fights, Samar decides that being alone with dementia is better than having an idiot like Amir as a boyfriend, so she goes into permanent hiding. Sadly, Mossad did not order a hit on Amir.

Absolutely heart breaking. I was in tears. Coming after the previous "fun" episode this was so different. Only criticism I have is that the song at the end was inappropriate. Something much better could have been chosen.

Im not necessarily a viewer that easily gets emotional during movies or series, but this one did it for me. I'm very sad to see Samar go, I loved her as a character. I'm also very sad for Aram; their chemistry will be missed.
The interaction that carries this episode is the one between Aram and Reddington, though. The way Reddington knows the only way to help both Samar and Aram is to do the worst possible thing in Aram's eyes; the way he does it out of respect for the two of them..
Aram's reaction is also understandable even though it is clear that Reddingon had the best intentions. I'm also glad they dealt with Shur properly; what he did - or rather what he did not do - was unforgivable.
Bring out your tissues, you're gonna need them.

This episode was very well written and had a very strong plot and idea to keep the story of Navabi's illness and resignation going. I love Navabi's character as well as the rest of the cast doing whatever they can for her. BUT!!!!!! Haram IS THE DUMBEST FBI AGENT IN THE HISTORY OF ALL TV SHOWS ON THE PLANET!!! Its like oh what do I do now... Its like hes shocked about whatever is going on "this doesnt make sense" MORON! He is like a sad puppy that follows navabi around at her beck and call trying to be like oh I'm sad I didnt know, I thought I was protecting you... wah wah wah, cry baby!!!! I was literally screaming at the TV because of his idiotic!! Then he is just shocked when she had to leave on her own and hes is once again crying like a pansy! Granted we have seen his horrible sad I'm in love with navabi act before but this pushed it to a whole new level!! Other than that this is a great episode that keeps the story going! Well done in writing

Once again we have the scum of the earth making life miserable for everyone. But it also shows forces that have to be reckoned with and the two agents have no chance of ever being safe. Reddington gets smacked but he knows that she has to go and he knows the safe places. That said there are some great scenes. One is the confrontation in the cabin when that blonde woman tries to inject the cyanide pill. The one that's a little bit hard is when they are blasted off the road by the bad guys who have assault weapons. How could they withstand that assault? I mean, machine guns against pistols. We also have Red having to commit murder because of a betrayal. This is really intense and it jacks up the motivations of the task force.
