Julia's body is first taken over in this episode, bringing the sibling god's together for the first time in over a millennium. Eliot, who's body is taken over by the monster and Julia, who's body is taken over by the monsters sister, are loosely based (according to Lev Grossman, the author of the book trilogy the show is based on) on the characters of Lord Sebastian Flyte and Lady Julia Flyte from the book, Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, who are siblings, like the two gods are.
The monster's sister asks why he would need a name since this is a human failing - so he gives Starbucks as his excuse, i.e. just to identify his coffee cup.
Margo is even more cynical than Kady was in The Side Effect (2019) - yet she rapidly appreciates Gordy the hedge vet/doctor when he magically discerns that her goldfish Josh is a werewolf, and so is Margo herself.
Camryn Manheim (Sheila) has worked with Hale Appleman's (Eliot Waugh) cousin, Gillian Zinser in the TV show, Stumptown (2019). They played Lieutenant Cosgrove and Coach Mary Jane 'MJ' Glenway respectively. Hale's father and Gillian's mother are siblings.
