What a beauty!!!
unwhosearmy23 November 2018
This was a wonderful football/biography for any football fan and enthusiast, but also a sincere character study... Of people, community, culture and of a rare relationship between a city/Liverpool F.C and one of it's greatest representatives. He is of one of the most gifted and unique players of all time, with a passion that shines on and off the pitch/camera.

Make Us Dream did made me think of some of the ugly side of human nature, some of the duality, the thin line between love and hate. How thin it is in some, sain/insane and how these fractions of moments effect life. The uglyand beautiful side of of humanity it brings out. How it connects us from strangers. Could walk into a bar anywhere in the world and instantly connect with someone watching your team play.

There is pressure in each of our lives, from ourselves and from others. Then there is the pressure that only few people in our modern world ever get to experience, which is constant, intence and practically unimaginable. Though many moments are missed, essence of the man and his career are captured and it is an honest and emotional journey. "A player like him comes only along once in every 40-50 years, once in a lifetime". Shame that we did not get to see more of his great moments for club and suprisingly nothing for country, but that is not what this was meant to focus on and there simple are too many of those to include, but that is what we have Youtube for... He is (almost?) to Liverpool what Maradona is to Napoli. But there is only one Maradona...but there also is also only one Steven Gerrad. A very, very worthy watch of a special, special player.

You don't need to be a Liverpool fan just a football fan to enjoy this
scluskey24 November 2018
Before the days of £100 million pound players every team had that one player u knew absolutely gave it everything . They may not of been a local lad or the most skilful but as a boy u wanted to be that player . The best thing about this film is showing stevie for the humble down to earth person he was and remained as a football fan it's a must watch as a Liverpool fan that olympiakas goal still gives me goose bumps and makes hairs on back of my neck stand up more than any other and he will win the premier league one day as manager hopefully if not who cares cos watching him play and seeing the boy grow into a man will always be some of the greatest memories

Worse things happen than losing football matches. Worse things happen than slipping and effectively handing a football competition to Man City. But football IS life and death to those who follow their club through thick and thin. And Steven Gerrard epitomised that love, hope and, ultimately despair of the football supporter. I feel a little low after watching this film. Steven's career deserved a happy ending. But who could ever forget Istanbul 2005? Shame that wasn't the happy ending. I only hope that one day Gerrard comes back to Liverpool FC as manager and does what he didn't quite manage to achieve as a player and wins the First Division (or whatever it is called then). A true hero of the game and even a non-Liverpool fan; even those who sing the cruel 'Demba Ba' song, could not begrudge him of the title that alluded him as a player. A wonderfully poignant 8 out of ten

Stop cutting them onions.

Before I start, I feel obliged to mention that I have created my account specifically for this review. I am a Liverpool fan from Romania since I was about 8, and I have identified Liverpool with Steven Gerrard from basically the beginning.

Subjectivity aside, this is not a documentary about a football player. This is a documentary about a man that somehow refused everything for what he loved.

Obviously this is going to start straight away with probably the most hurtful and significant moment of the man's life: that slip. A simple secaond; a mere second for many, a moment that broke the hearts of so, so many. I remember I waas devastated that day. I was actually crying matches later when Stevie G. was picking up a demolished Suarez, crying, off of the grass. I knew it was all over then and there. Suarez was surely leaving, Sterling as well, perhaps Sturridge too... but most importantly, Gerrard was done. You could see it on his face. On your face. On every Liverpudlian face... and I'm Romanian. I could only imagine what generations of loyal, fierce local supporters were feeling.

If you felt this, it is the doco for you. It will twist you, make you happy, make you cry... but in the end love the man even man.

Steven Gerrard. The man who single footedly (of that's even a word) pulled a whole team that was stuck beneath the crushing weight of tragedy and it's own glory to one of the best football matches in the history of the beautiful game... not for himself, but for those he loved. His neighbours, his relatives and his friends. The local boy who gone done it all, except for that heartbreaking and elusive Premier League title. People still belittle him for the slip, they joke and hate, but none, not one single of them would have given up what our Captain has given for us... for love.

And in the end, that is the beautiful game, is it not?

TLDR: If you love football, watch this.

Make Us Dream is a reminder that Steven Gerrard typifies the perfect footballer

The raw emotion that came from the lowest of lows to the eventual euphoric joy was something incredibly infectious and difficult not to get caught up in.

Great insight into a rare sight these days.... an athlete with loyalty and heart. I am just a casual football fan here in Australia but Gerrard is synonymous with Liverpool and that is something to be proud of. Loved the style of the doco and recommend it.

He's been great to Chelsea, don't get me wrong, he's really helped us out and scored and assisted on two big ones, but I just feel like if you're going to help Chelsea out as much as you have you could at least come train some with the team. To refuse to come to Chelsea training is just selfish. I guess he feels he's too good for the team he's given so much to.

Done on the cheap

Was this an official documentary because where were the interviews of Gerrard himself. All we got was voice overs from players including Gerrard along with his family and agent obviously reading from a script. .This is by far the worse amazon sport production I have seen. I respect the man himself greatly who has showed great loyalty to Liverpool fc. But this was just a very badly produced documentary and if was an official documentary Gerrard deserved far better than this. If you like football documentarys watch the far superior Sunderland till I die on Netflix that was riviting this was long and felt it. So disappointed.

He made us dream. Now it has become a reality. The best player LFC has ever seen, an even better human who gave everything for the club and chose loyalty over seductions of money and trophies. You're a legend Stevie! #YNWA

This movie is also a Legend
sabariraam11 December 2018
Steven Gerrard is one of the underspoken legends of the English football . This movie dictated how he overcome difficulties and challenges to give everything for his club and it's fans . This movie is a struggle and very emotional picture of the man's life . You will definitely hope Liverpool F.C to win a premier league for the sake of the legend .

Amazing to see a proper documentary on Stevie G. This guy was the reason I started watching football. He is the epitome of Leadership, Sacrifice & Loyalty. Quite well-made. It takes us through the ups and downs of Gerrard's career. His private life, his love for his family and their tradition.

I'm not a LFC fan, nor really a football fan but this is so much more than football! It's an inspirational account of a hugely talented boy and man giving everything to his home city and club! We can all take something from his loyalty, drive and attitude. It's not about the money or fame for him...how refreshing! Clearly a man in love with his family too!

What a huge pressure on his shoulders! A very honest and emotional insight! Makes me want to be the best person I can be! It really isn't all about the glory! Watched it with my two sons who also found it hugely inspiring!

Hope to see him as manager for LFC one day...he has unfinished business!

"Liverpool Captains always deliver; We have to"
noyanaila23 April 2020
As a fan of Liverpool since early 1990s, I watched Stevie's debut, the low of the infamous slip and the high of Istanbul miracle.

I just went sobbing when he said "Liverpool Captains always deliver. We have to"

He carried a team on his shoulder so many times.

This is a good docu, although I am ofcoz biased.

I just wish he once again returns to Anfield as manager and win the only title he misses as player: the league title.

Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be

It's always an interesting experience to set aside fierce rivalries and watch documentaries about other clubs, the fans and the players. Listening to some of these fans talk about how their lives and lives of several others in the city revolve around what happens on the pitch makes you appreciate the players, the collective journey of the players, the club and the city and then, these rivalries even more.

Apart from several about Utd, I've watched a few about Leicester, Bournemouth, Southampton, Leeds, Man City, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Roy Keane vs Patrick Viera, and the most recent that I watched today, this one on Stevie G. I don't care for his club but mad respect to this guy and what he meant to the club/city and vice versa. This one was really good. Would totally recommend.

I don't care what club you support, if you know of good football documentaries about your team/in-general, let a brother know. Always up for watching something that would give me a different perspective before the season starts and once it does, we can all go back to said rivalries and to hoping your team bites the dust.
