Totally disappointed with the screenplay of this movie. The performance of all the actors/actress is below par, except Siddique.

Weak script. First half was watchable just due to Salim Kumar and Hairsh. Second half and climax is super boring.

Strong message. But really bad execution.
tigeron-1021613 September 2019
I am highly disappointed with this movie. The direction and making was so bad. Though the film contains a strong message for the society, the making made this a worst one. I strictly recommend this to family audience only. I mean only family audience.

one of the worst i have ever watched
pcbino-7123830 December 2019
I gave it 1 because i found no option for a zero. Now if anybody asks me which is the worst movie you have watched, i will say ittymaani. I couldn't believe what i watched, not in a good sense but in a very bad sense. Mohanlal is a legendary actor. I am an admirer of Mohanlal's acting,it was sad to see him this way. Since odiyan something happened to his face. Normally expressions just flow naturally for him. I hope he come back with his natural face like before odiyan. Now it seems like only big budget movies like lucifer suits him not the down to earth simple characters. The movie was torture any way. Siddique was the only relief.

One of the most horrible movie I ever watched
shadwalp10 September 2019
Seriously I don't know why I watched this movie fully. After the first 10-15 minutes itself I was quite sure this movie is just going to waste my time. The message of the film was good but couldn't execute it well enough to entertain the audience or couldn't give any kind of an emotional attachment. There were a lot of meaningless and boring comedies throughout the movie and a few audience started leaving theatre after first half itself. I didn't find any standout performance from any of it's cast. It's one of the most horrible Lalettan's movie I've ever watched.

Watched it just because of the good reviews I saw online (mostly from the fans I believe), there were a lot of positive reviews saying it's much better than "Love Action Drama", but frankly 'Love Action Drama' was an entertaining movie and a lot better than this movie. I won't recommend this to anyone. If you still need to waste your time, I prefer watching it in any good theatre, so you can have a good sleep at least.

Silly, self-righteous and unrealistic
rshyleshnair19 September 2019
What were the director and story writer/screenplay writer and editor thinking? Did the storyboard get developed as the film was shot?. Mohanlal's character was a caricature at best including the so called completely forgettable, moot Made in China ancestral reference that really has no point in this story.. Its a struggle to get past mohanlal's heavily botoxed cosmetically altered face. And as is to be expected all good supporting actors were given terrible lines. We find a nearly 50 year old bachelor self absorbed in making money character who stumbles into a series of events that unfold into a hitch pitch poorly knit film Only Dharmajan, siddique and Sharada stood out with their impeccable acting and comedic timing. The visuals are treat and the made in China feels like an uncreative but perhaps a lucrative afterthought. If the movie' moral message was about the so called modern day social ill of elder abuse or neglect, it was built on a silly premise, and could have been dialed down after the second iteration of soapbox preaching from Mohanlals character. we were inundated with our eyes rolling back into our heads-enough already! It felt self righteous. Editing was below average. And of course mohanlal's live interest would be an actress old enough to be his grand daughter. What a waste of money and resources. Antony perumbavoor and production house should lay off the booze and employ creative writers and talent into movies instead of a fading star of old. I lose faith in Malayalam cinema when I see this tripe!

A huge disappointment
grranjit8 September 2019
At a time when Malayalam cinema has come a long way in terms of craft, concepts, technology and ideas, a film like Ittimani... is a huge step back-more so when you have a superstar like Mohanlal anchoring it.

Entertains You
ajaythomas8 September 2019
The movie lacks a good plot. The movie is about the way an old aged woman is being treated by her children and aims to send a message about the way the old aged people are being treated in the society. The humorous cast of aju vargheese, salim kumar, hareesh kanaran, dharmajan and sidiqque makes sure that the movie never stops cracking you up.

Made In China
AbhinandDas10 September 2019
Ittymani is the story of a Thrisur based guy who is trying to find a love for his life and lands up in the middle of his neighbors family issue. Realizing that its the issue that the society is facing currently, the title character Ittimani is trying to solve the issue. Though the movie tried to convey a message to the audience, the attempt was a failure. The movie was a 2hr 30min trash that constantly tested the patience of the audience. The lead actor was trying to show the glimpse of his vintage performance and had failed in it. I couldn't find a single scene with exaggerated dramatic situations and dialogues.

Inexperienced direction, poor script (2.8)
sujith789_reviews27 October 2019
  • Genre:Comedy/Drama
  • This movie is an example of inexperienced direction and poor scripting.
  • The story is really weak and poor. There is a message conveyed in the movie that too in a poor fashion. This message has been conveyed many times in many movies in a beautiful manner though for eg: Manassinakkare.
  • There was no need to show the Ittymathan's story and the china angle.
  • Poor casting. The actress who played young Theyyama was no match to KPAC Lalitha (old Theyyama).
  • Comedy was pathetic except few jokes from Salim Kumar.
  • Final Score - 2.8/10. No reasons to recommed watching this movie.

Cliche theme, Watchable
joppanLive26 September 2019
This movie has a cliche story line, which is highly relevant. I said cliche, because we saw similar theme in "Manasinakkare","Thinkalacha nalla divasam" and many other malayalam films already. "Ittymaani" is rich with the setup, costumes, visuals and Mohanlal looks very young in a good way ( i meant not like in the poor 'Odiyan' way). Siddique was outstanding throughout with humour. The story is completely predictable and no thrill in that sense. There are lot of double meaning jokes in the second half. Overall, a watchable movie.

Expected Trash and it Managed to Get Worse
aadithmk23 May 2021
I went in with 0 expectation and came out with the same. First of all, Ittymaani's Chinese heritage did not have anything to do with this movie. It was frankly a useless addition in the movie as an attempt to make it unique. The only use of the Chinese part was through the fights between his mother and him, where it uses a comedic purpose.

The story of this film really disappointed me in many levels. They could've really molded this movie's path into something else. The Sons characters really confused me as they had very weird unrealistic thoughts and dialogues. Mohanlal's acting also was very weird and fake. His expressions didn't communicate with the audience enough and it looks like he's high when you just focus on his face. It almost looks like he can't move his face to make an expression. Also, the accent sounded very fake and comical, which gave an all the more fake vibe to the movie. Another thing I noticed is the reaction of one of the sons' wives when the chef tries to flirt with her. She reacts as if he told a bad joke. Overall this film really turned out just like I expected, or I could say worse.

Molecule Review: Ittymaani (6 Stars)
nairtejas23 September 2019
There's no denying that watching Ittymaani (given Malayali Christian name) involves a bit of fun through the comedy that is produced by the characters as the absurd story presents itself in a small town where the oddball titular character (Mohanlal) is trying to get married but instead finds himself in a soup when things go bad for a neighbor. It can be said that Mohanlal has made a comeback after Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam (2013) and with a style that is reminiscent of the type of performances he executed during the golden decades (80s and 90s) of Malayalam cinema. But he still goes overboard a little, which should have been refined for his age in the storyboard. Nonetheless, with enough support from Dharmajan Bolgatty he manages to single-handedly take Ittymaani into soaring comedic heights and then writer-director Jibi Joju wrecks everything with a preachy climax that just oozes out all the fun. This is not the best film of Mohanlal to come out in this decade but it is easily the most funny. Still haven't figured out the need for the China angle or those Mandarin dialogues, though. TN.

Made in China
manne-0178722 September 2019
Weak Story no twist, its a comedy because all the great malayalam comedians are in that movie but don't expect mohanlal will make u laugh with his lame serious jokes...1st half is okay but the second half became boring for the viewer, and i think with or without honey rose story in ittymaani the story is the same.

Absolute trash
parvathyrox27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Even if it took place in any other country, there would be no difference. The only relevance china had to the plot was that the main character worked in a chinese restaurant and occasionally spoke in some kind of mock-Chinese to his mom. As usual with these types of movies, some profound message was trying to be addressed, about helping mothers or some other s**t, but you cant even focus on that bloody message when the movie keeps on shoving innuendos every few scenes. I couldn't even tell what genre it was trying to be. One of the most bizarre movies I've ever had the misfortune to see.
