Great start to a promising premise.

Watching shows with such high ratings always seems to leave me wanting more. A band if brothers, A prison break and a sopranos episode is not far off of the quality of this first episode yet, the show is rated so lowly. The plot is set quickly, no nonsense, but at the same time, it is intriguing. Why are the dead amongst the living? How is it to be reverted? And what does a dead bird have to do with anything?

The characters you meet are all interesting and has something to offer each other when they share the screen I love watching shows and movies with people I've never seen before, it immerses me more than a Tom holland playing a bus driver or Zendaya playing a drug addict. It is obvious from the get go that Mehe and Waka Nuku Rau would have fantastic chemistry and I hope it continues into the second episode, with a cute Kratos and his boy in god of war and Joel and Ellie in the last of us vibe.

Whilst it's not strictly a horror, it does have decent tension with one scene in particular, that reveals the dead in the land of the living, very similar to the zombie in resident evil. Its tone is brilliant and something that is overlooked in most media. Its also shot really well, the camera pans wide for most action shots leaving you able to view the fighting choreography without any shaky effects or close quick cuts.

Overall a very solid episode that doesn't do anything wrong, with room to get better.
