How are people giving this a 1 or a 2 out of ten?
nmccoyoy8 January 2020
Wasn't a great episode, but it wasn't bad. It had character development, it had some action and some funny dialogue, such low scores should be for bottom of the barrel shows that don't look good, don't sound good and are just terrible, which this episode certainly was not.

Still nothing new in term of storytelling
nguyenbakhanhbicondova6 December 2019
It's like you get one really well-made, really entertaining self-contained short film of the Star Wars universe every week. Nothing grandiose, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. There's a certain beauty in the simplicity of The Mandalorian.

Learn the difference between "filler" and character development.
IrishCreem9146 December 2019
No, this is not an action packed episode. It does have character development. Do we need a solid 40 minutes of special effects and blasters? No. There's nothing wrong with enjoying some character work and beautiful scenery. This episode has both.

From Werner Herzog to... this?!
bjorn-791-48561310 December 2019
What is happening? Did they blow all the budget and creativity on the first three episodes just to get people to sign up to Disney+ and hope that would be enough?

Sure, there are some nice scenes visually, but plot, characters and acting feels flatter than the Tatooine dune sea and less lively than the Jundland Wastes.

Filler vs Character Development
dogsox6 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The fifth chapter of one of the greatest series to hit Star Wars continues it's slower pace and setting as seen in the fourth episode. Does this make this episode and the previous one filler? I would say no. Both of these episodes deal a lot with Mando as a character and this is episode in particular really pushes the idea of danger and how there are both good and bad people in the Star Wars galaxy. I rate this episode a 8/10 because of the lack of Tusken Raiders and there being less of baby yoda. Don't worry though he still has his cute moments. In all honestly, not every episode is gonna be absolute perfection and blasters firing everywhere and I am glad that it isn't like that because it would have gotten stale by now. I look forward to next weeks episode.

The last two episodes are a huge decline in quality
vpsalida7 December 2019
When i watched the third episode I was relieved knowing that we can finally have some decent star wars plot to enjoy. But boy oh boy things really turned south with the last two episodes. Basically two thing: 1. the acting of Gina Carano and Jake Cannavale is just crigne worthy 2. Story goes nowhere and there isnt enough plot to these episodes to make them stand alone. My hope fades ,but deep down I wish it will work in the end.

A bit lackluster
WarBerg117 December 2019
I am starting to become a bit impatient with this show. No relevant plot points were touched in this episode again. The show feels now like it is aiming more towards kids than adults, because of its length, simplicity and the fact that little knowledge is required to follow every episode. Baby Yoda still steals the show and we did get to know Mando a tiny bit better. Also the visuals in this episode are a pure dedication to the first trilogy. However, the story is spread very thin and most side characters are only temporary. I would welcome some more depth. It is like I am watching a video game sometimes with these quests and bounties, armor upgrades etc.

Star Wars in good hands
anythingandeverything646 December 2019
Anyone that has looked at the credits for Star Wars films and television will have seen the name Dave Filoni before and know that he understands what makes Star Wars magical. A name I trust with any of their properties but certainly keeps proving his abilities here.

This episode in particular hit just the right cocktail of nostalgia, action, space battles, and bounty hunter lore. They left us with questions needing answered in a fashion that makes me both excited for the next episode and if I can leave an episodic series feeling both satisfied by the episode I watched and excited by the questions it left then they have earned a great review.

Whose legs were those? Was that Darth Maul? Is there a super cameo coming of previously seen characters? Will baby Chewbacca happen too? Will Mace Windu ever get his old arm back or a new robot one? Tune in next week!

Show started strong, but its just getting lazier...
aarongnr6 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1, 2 and 3 were fantastic. But episode 4 was extremly bland and predictable and this episode is just 0815 storytelling. There's absolutely nothing new, the end was anticlimactic as hell and the story is not moving forward AT ALL since episode 3.

The only thing still going for it is the good CGI (even though I thought the spaceship explosion at the start looked like it was from the original trilogy) and baby yoda. Without baby yoda this wouldn't get half the attention it does.

I sincerely hope they get it together in the final two, but for now, excitement has turned into disappointment really fast for me.

The show is great and this ep is fine but the fandom is toxic, very toxic...
sidyadav20098 December 2019
This week's episode is also being called a filler episode and while it is not the best episode of this show, it is still better than most things on TV right now. But then I see all these reviews calling it not upto the mark and a filler and I can't help but laugh. Some fans want this show to be a serial drama, unfolding a great tale in the Star Wars universe. But really, this show is a space western and westerns are not meant to be serial. It is about a mandalorian trying to lead a life as a bounty hunter who is trying a protect an alien kid from all kinds of evil in the galaxy. It doesn't deserve a bad review just because it is not what you want it to be.

Another filler recycled ep.
Jigsjigz7 December 2019
Just like the last this was just another recycled story used 100s of times already... It felt like an ep of Kevin Sorbo Hercules series.

Directors Son?
brittani-317508 December 2019
This felt like filler and I found my self 5 minutes into it wondering if the sidekick was some directors son or a friends kid. The acting was really bad. :(

Confusingly bad
RedMars20178 December 2019
How do you make a TV series based on the biggest franchise in the world and not bother with character development or plot? This is like a Nickelodeon teen drama. Terrible acting, lazy writing, no discernible plot development and, after the promise of the opening 3 episodes, this is worryingly bad.

It's a first season! Surely Disney should be rolling out brilliant episode after brilliant episode? They seem to have given up after 3 episodes and so will I.

Back to Tatooine.
cruise016 December 2019
4 out of 5 stars.

Another great fun filled episode. With a space battle and Mandolorian landing in Tatooine for repairs. He takes a job to hunt down another bounty. The speedsters bikes are back. It was fun. Exciting. And had some decent action.

Everyone seems so smart about how to make movies and develop characters
elenazadyra30 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was surprised reading such bad reviews for this episode. I think it's been a great nostalgia-journey to Star Wars atmosphere that people (supposedly) like! We've seen some Tatooine landscapes - checked. Toro Calican sitting in the same cantina booth where Han shot Greedo (first), adopting Han Solo's legs crossed on the table sitting manner - far from Han of course, but another nostalgia jolt -- checked. We've got to see Tusken Raiders and banthas and all this old-fashioned Star Wars-like adventures - checked! There is no need in super special effects, blaster fighting or drastical plot development in EACH episode. We've seen some interaction between the characters which helped to get to knowing the main characters better. Why not just relax and enjoy walking down the memory lane here. It really was interesting, I enjoyed it a lot and I'm really thankfull to the creators for making it. And by the way, how come that everyone seems to completely forget about an intriguing plot twist with that mysterious man, wearing something that actually looked to me as a Mandalorian armor and that distinct sound of spurs? Yeah, it isn't likely for him to be Boba Fett, but it is still intriguing. Really surprised that everyone thought of this episode as useless when it introduced so many questions with its final scene.

Perfect Nostalgia with more great development for The Mando
freddfoley6 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was once again absolutely amazing! The opening space fight was brilliantly made and really looked like a movie and then the parralels between Episode 4 when he arrived on Tatooinee is probably the perfect way to use nostalgia.

We get the introduction of two new bounty hunters both of which have a interesting personalities and motives and then the tease at the end of the unknown character. Could it be Boba, I have no idea but I am beyond excited to find out what happens next!

-This is a very good episode.
marianthenightman6 December 2019
-I really like the connections with the rest of the franchise and i'm really pleased to see a series which can respect what the others did before, without any kind of visual remake or something like that, unlike other series where only the name reminds us of the rest of the franchise. So this is the proof this thing can be done.

I can feel the Star Wars
Segaz_6 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
That nostalgic dog-fight at the beginning was great, just like in the best movies. all effects were great, every fight\firefight are well shot and production is very good. The plot isn't very bad, it's good actually, but it's too "Disneyish". Every character(but Mando) are very simple, and i clearly see every next move. But anyway, this chapter is very impressive(better then 4th, bruh) and I pray for the appropriate continuation.

Forgettable to say the least
mauricio-madrid24 January 2020
This was kind of interesting, the plot develops in an auto mode and the conflict ends in a disgustingly rushed way, Toro Is bland as bread and the actor doesn't help me buy him. The thing Is It could've worked if It was better developed and se actually got to know the new characters but It felt like It was written as a filled episode made to complete the 8 episode quota.

A Fun Episode.
lootybagsacks9 December 2019
I feel like everyone just wants this series to be pure action all the time with big boss battles at the end of every episode. Forgetting that this is a TV series and they're already making a 2nd series hopefully with more to follow.

Allow it to build up on a story. Develop the relationship between Mando and the child.

People forget that The Original Trillogy was a bit cheesy in places and not all the acting was spot on and that's part of the charm.

This episode was fun and had some funny bits. I like that Mando isn't OP and seems like he's gone down a path that he's already fed up with but has to because he's looking after the child.

Still way better than the current movies

Nothing new here
MamadNobari976 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing new as for the story but it's still fun and I really liked the the scene with SpeederBikes on desert it was really good. I'm kinda disappointed that they wasted Ming-Na Wen here cuz she's a really good actress and a badass, should've kept her longer.

mastiff-man7 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wow that actor was bad. I felt like I was watching a teen Nickelodeon actor. (I know he's older but man was he bad) this was the first episode I looked at the person next to me as we watched it and said "well that was pointless and dumb!" I like the show itself but I hope this was a one time episode slip up
