The film was shot from 2015 to 2017. At the time of the first recordings, Vítor da Silva in his eighties, was severely ill but eventually got better in during the making of the documentary. As a result he looks different throughout the film.
The original idea arose from an interview by Rui Fernando Martins and Ricardo Santos, covering the retrospective of the long career of Vítor da Silva, for its multiple facets as designer and illustrator.
The second idea was to make a three part series, but was abandoned in favor of Vítors career as a newspaper designer, which stood out as an important factor. As a result, production time increased and a large quantity of interview content related other parts of Vítor Silvas curriculum to weren't included.
Not mentioned in the film, Vítor da Silva was a teacher at the António Arroio Art school, and at the University of Media Studies in Lisbon. Although these were the same institutions the films director Rui Fernando Martins attended, this was just coincidental. It was in fact Ricardo Santos, who conducted the interviews, who was in fact Vítor Silvas student and came up with the idea of making the original interview, which later resulted in a documentary.
Rui Fernando Martins (director), was responsible for the majority of the documentary. He produced, researched, shot audio, video, did the lighting, editing, post production, graphics, music and even conducted the two final interviews by himself while shooting.
The documentary received A word premiere award at the Avanca Film festival 2018.
