I was Getting very emotional, despite I am not pro awami supporter. It is through in lens of a strugging daughter who lost her everything. the cinematography is spectacular. The use of Pannalal's song in the background is very appropriate and touchy. Historical !

An incredible daughter's tale
ziakds-5435717 November 2018
A biography, a crime thriller, a historical or war documentary, a political docu-drama? Or just an unimaginable true story of two sisters awaiting justice for 35 years for their parents and family who were brutally murdered in a military coup?

"Hasina: A Daughter's Tale," is a mixture of all these, the story of the incredible journey of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, told in a stunning presentation and intricate detail.

The whole film was a five-year-long collaboration, between the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Applebox Films' founder, and the film's director, Rezaur Rahman Khan Piplu, who directed this feature length documentary.

Direction at Its Best.
arnobimran17 November 2018
It is short and interesting. This Documentary is based on Sheikh Hasina. Not her political life, but her struggle and rising from zero has been focused. After the assassination of all the members of her family in 1975, she and her younger sister only survived. How she was passing her days, how she was neglected in maximum spheres of life, and how she returned to her own country and became prime minister. This may look a two-sentence story, but trust me this had not been so easier. This documentary has revealed many untold stories about her. Direction was too good. Soud effects were also very decent. Overally it won't disappoint you.

Propaganda at its best
criticnoman13 October 2023
Viewers are taken on a journey through the life of a historical figure, but it's a journey filled with bumps and detours. The film's portrayal of history is riddled with inaccuracies, which may leave history enthusiasts disheartened. While the acting is serviceable, it doesn't quite leave a lasting impact, falling into the realm of 'average' at best.

In summary, 'Hasina: A Daughters Tale' is a film that stirs controversy with its historical inaccuracies, struggles to stand out in terms of acting, and falters in its production elements. While it has its moments, the overall experience warrants a modest rating of 1/10.

Outstanding screenplay, direction & music. Probably the Bengali film of the year.
karmakerniloy15 December 2018
The film is a perfect example of a documentary. The honorable prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina portrays such a strong and powerful inspiration throughout the movie. Direction, screenplay and most importantly the music steals the show. Debjyoti Mishra probably has done his best work till date.

This is a must watch film for every Bangladeshi people. Even if you are a non Bangladeshi, you will still enjoy the film. English subtitles will do the job.

Unbiased opinion of a passive citizen
lishaan23 November 2018
I felt I needed to give an unbiased opinion on the docu-drama as it is, instead of being biased with any political affiliation. I am giving this a 10 out of 10 because of the stupid reviewers who gave low ratings without even watching the movie just because they sympathise with the opposition or do not like the AL govt. This review is for those of you who are just wondering whether this movie or docu-drama is worth watching. From my neutral point of view I feel Everyone should watch this movie- it's not about whether you like or dislike AL or our PM but just to "know". What this work of art has done is it has created an interest inside me- a true interest to seek out and trace the true history behind our nation. This will give you a starting point- an inspiration- for those passive people like me who have just been living their lives without thinking without engaging. After watching it the passive person inside me changed and started to trace his own history. We neglect our history so much it is astounding. It's beautifully directed and doesn't involve any irrelevant things. For you- the passive person of our generation- I urge you- just watch it once- at least watch the first 15 minutes of it- if you feel you don't want to watch the rest then it's fine. If after watching you don't feel anything that's also fine. But if this movie kindles a passion within you- a passion to seek- a passion to learn- a passion to know- and above all a passion for the country then you will understand every word that I have written in this review. Thank you!

May be the best documentary film in Bangladesh after Stop Genocide
Sohel-Mohammad-Rana15 December 2018
The film encapsulates the testimony of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana on the assassination of their father, our Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of their family members in 1975. After watching the docudrama I realized that this is a timeless masterpiece, because it portrays the true story of the long struggles of the family of our beloved Bangabandhu, through the eyes of the two people who witnessed everything first hand. They are the people who went though indescribable pain and were part of the struggles that our history did not allow us to know.

STAND OVATION TO THE DIRECTOR, MUSIC COMPOSER AND OBVIOUSLY SHEIKH HASINA.
nkr-7096415 December 2018
A perfect documentary, probably the best documentary ever made in Bangla language. Remarkable screenplay, direction, cinematography. It will be unfair if we don't appreciate the music composer, Debjyoti Mishra's work. He is terrefic. But overall that awesome way of story telling by Sheikh Rehana and honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina steals the show.

In conclusion, I can say that, its a must watch film for every Bangladeshi. Even a non Bangladeshi will enjoy the film, the Bengali language is not too hard to understand and also the english subtitle will do the job.

Go and watch in your nearest theatres.

An Untold History
tawhid-nuvan25 December 2018
This historical documentary covers the story of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana's life after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family. Hasina: A Daughter's Tale is through the lens of both sisters' and their struggling life but covers a lot of untold stories. It gives a horizon to the audience about how their life changed after the assassination on 15th August 1975.

Here Sheikh Hasina opened her life stories and connected those dots from her childhood to liberation war till the life she is leading today. She was more into her father's dream than her personal life. She eager to come back to Bangladesh from India after almost six years and rebuild the political party also ask for justice for the assassination of her family, though it was not an easy journey and this documentary covers some of those events. Sheikh Hasina lost not only her family in 1975 but also sacrificed being with her kids (Joy and Putul) who studied abroad while she was in Dhaka and busy with political activity. Both sisters showcased the memory lane from days in Belgium, Germany, Delhi, and London. I would say they have a photographic memory about their life back in more than 45 years.

The making of the documentary was excellent, the background music by Mishra was splendid and overall, I will recommend you watch it.

Best Documentary Ever!!
choyon-139164 August 2023
When it released in 2018, I watched it in the cinema hall. As the grandson of a freedom fighter, I have an attraction towards the liberation war. I believe in the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After watching it I got to know many unknown things. Everyone should see it at least once to know the truth. It contains many unknown history of Bangladesh. The former tyrant BNP has tried hard to erase the history it depicts. Everyone should know the truth. So best wishes to all. Consider carefully. Many prayers and good wishes for the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Thank you.

This film is the perfect example of a documentary. Screenplay, direction, cinematography & music, everything flaw less.

Probably the best Bangla documentary film ever made in the history of Bangla Industry.

Each and every Bangladeshi should watch the film. Even a non Bangladesh will enjoy as the subtitles will do the job.

Go and watch in your nearest theatre. And please avoid all the fake reviews given on the basis of Bangladesh Politics Rivalry.

Judge the film on the basis of a film. Dont take it elsewhere.
