Well it has a very strong messages. First that grandma and Sheldon can really spend their time together doing something they both love. Second that you can't try to make your wishes come true using kids. LOVED this episode.

GOOF

Glaring mistake , Sheldon is playing on an 8-Bit NES , but he's holding a 16-Bit SNES control pad !

One of my TOP 3 episodes...it will warm your heart and soul

Mrs. Shullivan and I just love this show and this particular episode was simply perfect!

Sheldon's meemaw (grandmother) wins a video game at her bowling league tournament and offers it to Sheldon who immediately snubs his nose at the idea of playing a child's game. His meemaw knows though in her heart of hearts that this game may just be another way to bond with her brilliant quirky little grandson genius and her plan works. Of course the anal Sheldon first has to read the manufacturer's agreement and then follow that up by reading the player instructions from front page to back page before even plugging in the video game while Sheldon's meemaw sits impatiently waiting to just play the damn game.

In the meantime Sheldon's big brother Georgie accidentaly discovers that he has an uncanny mechanical touch with vehicles that neither his dad or their neighbor Herschell (played by big Billy Gardell) who owns his own garage knew that Georgie possessed.

The unique relationship that the young Sheldon has with his scrappy meemaw (Annie Potts) is simply priceless to watch and I hope we get several more years of the Young Sheldon TV series with quality epsiodes such as this one. It is such a charming and family entertaining TV sereis.

Heartfelt episode that reminds me of my early gaming days

Wow... What a truely special episode that tugs on your heart strings Really took me back to the early days playing Alex Kid late at night with my Aunty and forgetting what time it was. Great episode for Georgie's character too, loving the development between the kids and the older family members that we didn't really get to see much on the parent show.

Intentional goof
jondearbaugh11 February 2023
As Herschel brings a six pack over to apologize to George about the decision that Georgie made, there is a goof that quite possibly was intentional.

Even though George was already drinking a beer when Herschel showed up at the gate with a six pack, he must have finished the one he had because there are two missing from the six pack that Herschel put on the table.

The scene then switches back and forth and the camera follows the dialogue.

I noticed early that the configuration of the remaining four bottles of beer in the six packet differed depending on the camera angle. At first I thought it was something that would be corrected, but it persisted through the entire conversation.

16 bit lies
13Funbags22 December 2019
This show is full of historical inaccuracies and things that contradict every thing Sheldon ever said on Big Bang theory. In this 8 bit mess they play a Super Nintendo which is 16 bit. I do have to admit this is better than Big Bang but how hard it to get close to reality???
