Stylish movie making and strong performances can't inject enough to enjoy into this downbeat story of a man falling into madness and dragging down his unfortunate family with him. Eccentricity at its worst and most harmful is on display from start to finish, getting worse as it grinds along.
Art direction and Award winning production design by Josephine Farsø is striking in its ability to make us feel repulsed by the living conditions of this suffering family and cinematography by Louise McLaughlin adds a dark moodiness to the various locations - but even with all these technical attributes this grim story will only suit a limited audience.
