At the end of the film after Lauren kills Chris, she puts the gun in his right hand to make it look like a suicide. She shot him on the left side under his chin, therefore the gun should've been placed in his left hand. This would raise the suspicion of any detective, and ultimately lead to a murder investigation. Of course, being an experience killer, Evan may have corrected this before leaving the body.
