I enjoyed very much this journey in th Azores: beautiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interesting aspects of the Azores: the identity of the Azores (Marco Borges-the journalist-, the Ceramica Vieira, the local pastel de nata with passion fruit, the soccer fans of the Benfica and the Sporting Lisboa), the climate and the geology of the Azores (the boat captain José Fernando Silva speaking about the great storms, the geophysicist Sandra Sequeiro speaking about the climate and the earthquakes, the volcanic eruption of the Capelinhos explained by Jose Deco Mota), the religious life in Furnas (the father Ricardo, the living faith, the procession and the visit of ill persons, the street with flower carpets),the surfing (Josephine Sanderson and her husband Ricardo), the hiking (Joachim Nene , the mountain guide, the great potential for hiking tours), the former whale fishing boat Maria Armanda (Antonio Garcia Machado, the fisherman, the regatta of fishing boats), the port of Horta in Faial Island (the cafe sport, the post office for the sailors, the paintings of the sailboat mariners, about 1.300 sailboats stop every year in Horta), the milk production ( Emanuel Fontes and his cattle, the cows spending all the year in the pastures) and the agriculture in the "fajas" (Antonio Baltazar the farmer, poet and singer, the farming in the lava flows,Serafim and the mountain farming).
I enjoyed the encounters of Jérôe with Joao (Ponta Delgada and the mountain walk), with Paula Aguiar in Furnas (the tea prepared with thermal water), with Maria Madalena Motta (the tea plantation and the tea factory), with Valter Vieira , the chef of Furna (the "cozido" prepared with heat of the earth, the hot swimming pool), with Sere Viallelle in the Piro Island (the vineyard and the wine tasting, the walk in the mountain, the observation tower for the whales), with Pedro and Antoine (the boat tour , the blue whales and the dolphins) , with Patricia Cheio (the walk through Angra, the tasting of pitanga, the preparation of the folar-Easter bread-), the visit of the cave "Algar do Carvao", the tasting of the bread and the traditional music played by the singers and and guitarists, the 15 string guitar); nice encounters with very kind Azores men and women.
