In 1920, Nina (Regina Duarte) is a teacher at a conservative school, where morals and good customs rule and nothing revolutionary enters. Upon learning that the registration of the girl Isadora (Isabela Garcia) had been rejected because she was the daughter of circus performers, the teacher is disgusted and decides to enroll her herself, putting herself against the rigid director Doralda (Maria Cláudia).
