Despite the threat of a Grand Jury, Frankie considers what he must do to provide for his family. Pressure on Siobhan begins to mount. Jackie arrives at the squad room crowing about the AK-47 and teasing Hank Signa why the State Police haven't found the weapon yet. Signa fires right back. At the elevator Rohr meets Minogue, their mutual dislike erupts and they curse each other, Minogue lands a parting shot that hits home, Jackie pauses in thought after the other leaves.
Jimmy weeps as he sees Frankie's kids playing outside, he takes a few pills, dabs his eyes and goes inside the Ryan house. Frankie is tired and napping on the sofa. Jimmy tries to talk about Tommy and Sheehan, Frankie says it's under control, not in the mood to discuss. Jimmy says the family should all take off while the Grand Jury is on, and asks for another heist. Frankie gets angry but young daughter Kick interrupts them.
FBI Agent Clasby, the one with Jackie Rohr at the funeral, meets reporter Michaela Freda at a restaurant, he will provide off-the-record info as his penance for past misdeeds. He gives her the name Clay Roach as a lead.
Jenny comes home after class, Rosa complements her new hair tint, Jackie eating dinner appears not to notice. Rosa mentions the daughter has not come home since the previous night, Jenny is worried but Jackie seems confident the girl is fine. Jackie leaves, dropping another shot at Father Doyle.
Jackie meets Jimmy at a harbor, who says the Ebbtide bartender sells guns to a black guy working for the gas company.
Decourcy reads the AK-47 report and updates Siobhan over a glass of wine. She doesn't understand the Charlestown code of silence. She has a meeting with Capt. Lewis and her bosses in the morning.
Reporter Freda goes to a modest house, Clay Roach's mother. Clay is inside watching TV. Freda wonders how he got off the cop shooting. She wants to know his contact at the FBI or else her story will name him. He says to talk to D.A. Ward.
Sue comes to visit Jenny for coffee. Jenny asks about Sue's daughter, they had sent her to a private school so no delinquency problems.
At the Mass Power & Gas Offices the supervisor knows who the meter reader is Jackie and Ward have come to find out about but asks for a warrant. Ward says he can get a court order if needed, then the supervisor relents and gives them the info. Ward starts to realize many of their activities are illegal for police, Jackie rationalizes for him.
Signa and Rachel are assigned to tail the meter guy. On stakeout, she explains she recently dated a K9 Officer.
Siobhan has the brief meeting with Lewis and her bosses. Lewis gives a file on Rev. Fields, Siobhan is told to check out each claim.
Rachel and Signa continue to bond, as they follow the gas company van. The driver delivers a long slender package to a barber shop. Hank says they need a warrant.
Kick meets the school Counselor, she is sad as he probes for what's behind her issues.
The meter guy finally drives home, the cops are surprised he lives in a decent neighborhood with a cheerful little daughter. Rachel reveals she has an Iranian background and took the State job for the security, but is not sure where she "fits in".
A young woman and her son come to Siobhan's office. The boy is taken to the kitchen while the woman explains she was in the church choir. When she was age 16, Rev. Fields trapped her in a coat check room and forced her to sing a hymn. At home later she tells Decourcy he was right. Fields is a predator of sorts, he says push him aside from her Coalition.
Signa and Rachel update Rohr on Jensen the gas man. They arrested him but he won't talk. Hank wants Jackie's help but warns him not to screw it up.
Cathy Ryan arrives at school, angry. The counselor tells her Kick's troubles seem related to a death in the family. He show's a drawing Kick drew.
Jackie blocks a parole officer in the parking lot. He asks for Clay Roach, the man refuses to help, Jackie has to let him go.
Signa and Ward meet Michaela, she asks about Clay Roach and gives Signa her pager number. Signa warns Ward he should worry about the reporter.
Frankie Ryan gets his young son for a bath, the water is cold. They have no money for a plumber. Kick sees her mother with the drawing, Cathy sees the hidden words "F*** this" written upside down, tries to get the girl to explain with no success.
Jackie and Ward meet, the ADA mentions Freda and asks how Jackie got Minogue to change his testimony, Jackie deflects. Ward says there have been 45 murders in Roxbury this year, he's the only black prosecutor in Suffolk County but working overtime on the three white cops case. Jackie cheers him up with a story about Abe Lincoln.
Frankie puts his boy in the cold water, unable to repair the boiler. He promises the boy better times.
Jackie finds Roach in a flophouse in Roxbury, he demands to know where Jensen stores the guns. Clay is strung out, needing a fix, Jackie gives a white powder. Clay tells Jackie off, but the drug given only makes him feel worse. Jackie offers the real stuff. Clay gives an address.
The Ward's and Hastings enjoy watching Bill Clinton debate on TV. Decourcy admits to being a Jerry Brown supporter. The talk turns to Rev. Fields, Eloise tells Siobhan to forget the accusations against Fields as they need the Rev. on the Coalition. Decourcy argues against that and his mother-in-law storms out. Decourcy suspects Siobhan hasn't told him everything about Fields and is upset she may have her own agenda.
Rohr calls Ward a little later, saying he found the rat and the address. In the morning DA Nathan Rey tells Ward to get the Strike Force Team involved. He goes to the team offices in the basement. Minogue drops by to say he wants to be "first in" on the Bromley Heath thing. Commander Chris Caysen is a sharp leader and has already checked up on Ward. They agree Hank Signa and the State Troopers will be backup.
The police Strike Team arrive at the site in a NYNEX cube van, piling out quickly with a door ram and weapons. Signa and Rachel watch from their car. Ward and Rohr watch from another car. The cops move in, Minogue fires on entering the door but is hit in the chest with a burst from an automatic weapon. The shooter is killed and two others are taken prisoner. Minogue is in rough shape as everyone comes in to view the scene. The weapon with the banana clip is in the dead man's hands. Jackie is happy they have the AK-47 and decides to ride the ambulance with Minogue. He lays into the mortally wounded cop with vulgar cruelty, Minogue flat lines looking at a grinning Jackie Rohr.
Jenny returns home to greet her mom. Daughter Benedetta went out again, three nights in a row. Jackie is having sex with his gf but can't ejaculate. He gets up and the girl shows a positive pregnancy test. He gives her some cash to get an abortion, he doesn't want another kid.
Betty Rohr is drinking in a park with some friends. A man offers a hit of marijuana and sits down beside her, Clay Roach.
