When the celebrated journalist Phakamile loses his eight-year-old daughter, Zinhle, his marriage and career fall apart and he succumbs to a life of drinking. His estranged wife and boss gives him an assignment, threatening to take his job if he fails. Phakamile has to cover the story of a ten-year-old prophetess, Gogo, who has a cult following. When the disinterested Phakamile goes to investigate Gogo's eerie abode, he is led into a series of strange occurrences where he thinks he sees Zinhle. Nothing is as it seems as Phakamile is forced to vividly live through his haunting past and dark future. Gogo challenges Phakamile to face the demons he has been running away from and offers him a peaceful life with his dead child.

An ethereal being with a mission to save troubled souls struggles with her desire to experience life as a human. As an Unborn, Zen must fulfill her missions in a short amount of time and return back to the mystical river that leads her back home to Ngale before the portal closes. On her second ever mission, Zen is sent to rescue a depressed musician Kwame from killing himself. Zen finds herself falling for Kwame and allows herself to be seduced by him and the pleasures of carnal existence. When Zen tries to return to her ethereal abode, she discovers that the portal is closed and she has no way of going back to Ngale. Lost, she tries to make a life for herself with Kwame but she descends into a deep darkness, discovering the misery that comes with being human.

Bonga is an ambitious brand manager and aspiring socialite building a life and career with his girlfriend Lily. At the doorstep of success, Bonga and Lily's fashion label is about to be showcased at Jozi Fashion Week. However, Bonga is troubled by haunting nightmares and disturbing visions that interrupt his life, relationship, work and his very sanity. Bonga discovers that he must leave the city and go back to his rural home to get initiated into spiritual work. Bonga tries to refuse his calling. He finds a popular sangoma on social media who promises to help him renounce his calling, but the sacrifice comes at a price. Bonga's life disintegrates further as he follows the charleton healer. Bonga is forced to deal with his past, his fears of accepting the calling and going back home.
