The Jog

A man wakes up to a phone call he receives mentioning his acceptance to a police academy he applied to. Happy to hear the news, he goes for a morning jog unaware of the situation he gets involved in.

Winner for best narrative short at the Kansas City Film Fest in 2019, The Jog is a short drama film directed by Joseph Lee Anderson who also stars in the film. The cinematography for the film was done by Trevor Hawkins which used the run-and-gun, shaky technique that enhanced the feel/dynamics for the film especially during the jogging and the confrontation scene. Although the technique is meant to enhance the scenes, it was a bit excessive and felt disorientating.

Overall The Jog is a well-written 7 minute film that is a true-to-life story with a powerful conclusion.

After its end, you discover it as religious film. A young man getting real great news. Entire life of his family go to better. The routine and a huge mistake as result of good intentions. And all seems compromised. A short film like a kick of fist. Virtues - impeccable story, admirable performance and confirmation of a dark suspicion.
