The Cool Kids Rig an Elections gives us Hank, Charlie, Sid, and Margaret taking sides in an election for the position of Activities Coordinator at the retirement home. The "why" doesn't really matter (suffice it to say that Rod McCary is effective but underutilized) and the episode lets its central cast run wild with lunacy for the duration; and therein lies the weakness of this episode. The outrageous and comedic behavior of our retirees plays best against a backdrop of sanity. In fact the best bits from this offering are with fabulous "straight man" (or is it "straight person") Allison, the ivy-league manager of the retirement facility who alternately tolerates and admonishes the wacky behavior of her tenants. She again shines as the eye of the storm of comedic geniuses.
