Little Chrysia's husband has broken his leg. Since he cannot do his duties as a taxi-driver, his wife takes his place. Right off the bat, she almost runs over an Eastern Mystical type, who curses the coach into changing into a variety of annoyingly different forms when Miss Chrysia gets a fare.
It's magic that is performed by the oldest form of movie magic: stopping the camera and substituting something else for the coach .... or the horse. The gag dates back to some of Melies' earliest movie like THE HAUNTED INN, but where the visual trickery was the point, now it's used to make people laugh instead of gape.
The variety and logic of the transformations helped maintain my interest throughout, while the old-hat technique made it less than ideal.
