- Child detective Mackenzie solves bizarre cases in her hometown, in the hopes that she will be accepted into the "Great Detective Society".
- Mackenzie is a girl with a habit of touching things and recording what they feel like in a book, who has recently inherited her late father's detective agency. She wishes to be accepted into the Great Detective Society, but In order to prove herself she must solve four cases, and submit the case reports to the society.
The reality of a fanciful dream: Mackenzie's friend, Penelope, claims that her dreams are being stolen. Although initially skeptical, she a device made by her butler/inventor, Cromwell, that allows her to experience the exact same dreams as Penelope, and discovers she's correct. Knowing that the thief is the masked person that keeps appearing in Penelope's dreams to kidnap her, Mackenzie finds a way to "dream walk" so that she can enter Penelope's dream and catch them, discovering their identity as the local pastry chief, Antoinette. Confronting her in the real world, Antoinette confesses that she was dream walking into Penelope's dreams and stealing them to use as an ingredient in her Sweet Dream Cake.
The truth hidden in the cosmos: Penelope has gone missing and when she investigates her room, Mackenzie finds it completely trashed. However it turns out that Chloe, a bumbling friend of her's and Penelope's who's always trying to best Mackenzie at sleuthing work, did this when she was trying to find evidence. Mackenzie becomes suspicious of the the planetarium and it's owner, and after investigating, discovers that he has kidnapped Penelope and is using a machine to control her into acting like a living doll for his lonely daughter. Mackenzie rescues Penelope, and the planetarium owner is arrested.
The miracle of an innocent heart: Penelope once again comes to Mackenzie with a problem. This time she that a snow fairy is stranded at the local ice skating rink, which puts their life at risk as the owner is planning to shut the rink down. Mackenzie is too "mature" to believe her, and consequently cannot see or hear the fairy, as only those with a "childish heart" can. However she tries to aid Penelope and Chloe, who Mackenzie and Penelope realize shares a requited crush on the fairy, in helping the fairy get home. After many much investigating, they are able to make it snow by temporarily transforming Penelope into an angel using a so-called "Angel Summoning Spell" (actually the power of Chloe's belief), allowing the fairy to get home.
The tragedy of a past grudge: Mackenzie is informed that a murder has taken place at the local circus. However it turns out that it's only an assault, and what's more, that the victim is just a flea in a flea circus. After investigating Mackenzie suspects another flea of having done it, and that flee ends up hurt too in what appears to be an locked room incident, leading to the conclusion that it was self-inflicted. However Mackenzie realizes that a culprit could just picked up the locked box and shaken it. Afterwards an avail falls and nearly kills all the fleas. The trial of this leads to Dover, an ex-circus performer. Dover has a grudge against fleas due to a flea being the reason he had to leave circus work. Despite Mackenzie's efforts to stop him killing one of the fleas, the circus ringmaster accidentally kills it anyway.
Having solve all four cases, Cromwell intends to submit Mackenzie's case report to the Great Detective Society, but mistakenly submits her "Touch List" instead. Consequently, she is, much to her own shame, accepted into the society under the official title of "Touch Detective".
