When Derek and Kate are awakened by Roi the elephant, their vehicle carries a tarpaulin-covered load immediately behind the seats which projects a good foot above the seat backs. As they drive away, the load is now wider and considerably less tall. Finally, in the aerial shot, the tarp is gone and the space is occupied by a spare tire.
When Derek and Kate search for Manu at night, their vehicle has powerful driving lamps mounted below the radiator. When they stop the vehicle for the night, there are no driving lamps.
In a scene that appears to take no more than 30 seconds after Derek (Rob Lowe) & Kate (Kristen Davis) meet Roi the male elephant in the bush whilst looking for baby elephant Manu, Derek receives a radio message to say the baby elephant has been found. As they drive away, Roi has completely disappeared.
At the start, it's noted that they're doing the photo shoot for their family Christmas card in August. The next scene shows a line of traffic flanked by blossoming fruit trees, which actually happens in North America in April to June, depending on how far south.
Call in of a loon hard been added in the movie soundtrack. There are no loons in Southern Africa, only on Northern Hemisphere.
when Kate wakes up at 2:30am in her New York apartment, the next shot shows Derek looking at the night sky through a telescope. It would have been 8:30am where he is.
