A good one
One of Taggart's best.
It's the end of the road for Kenny, who's foolish evidence tampering costs him dearly. With news of more couples found dead, Taggart and Livingstone get closer to the truth.
This is the first single Taggart episode that I think is worthy of a ten, sure the ending does come out of left field somewhat, but that ending, ten minutes or so of the most chilling, unsettling, downright frightening TV I have ever seen.
There are definitely a couple of clues to look out for.
It's a terrific final episode, it's everything that was great about this show, the characters, the music, the twist, a trip to Edinburgh, the violence, this is definitely up there with Nest of Vipers, Knife Edge etc.
Every scene means something, there's that great moment where Taggart and Jean meet Mary Walker, but the final sequences will have you on the edge of your seat. That moment, 'you find ways of dealing with those little problems, don't you,' it is so unsettling.
There's definitely a couple of laughs, the statues show a good sense of humour, it's also about the first time we see Taggart and Livingstone share a laugh or two.
Kenny's demise was very well played out, a shame Kenny's career came to such an abrupt end, he'd be back, but a shame he was no longer part of the team, I liked him. Stuart Hepburn was so good.
Terrific performance from Anne Kristen, first class, she would later return in Series
Brilliant.
10/10.

Death Call Parts 1-3
Robert and Eva Russell are on their way to Switzerland with a suitcase full of money. Robert owns a golf course which he wishes to develop into a country club.
The strangled body of Eva Russell is found, later the husband is discovered who mentions something before he too dies.
The main suspect is pharmacy assistant Jamie McCormack (Alan Cumming) who visited the Russell's to deliver a bag that was left behind. One detective is so sure that Jamie is the killer that he even plants evidence.
Another complex story with red herrings and misdirection. Several suspects are presented. This has the added ingredient of police corruption something Taggart disapproves of when he finds out. In fact Taggart goes out of his way to double check something which could prove someone's innocence and leads him to discover that evidence was tampered with.
The actual reveal of the murderer in Death Call was left field in my opinion. I would had loved to have found out the motive. It was certainly a chilling story but here some of the conveniences between the various people stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to past stories where it had also existed.
