Would have loved this if i weren't familiar with the franchise. Lots of action, at times fast paced and at other times slow. A glimpse in to Chewbacca's back story was a treasure. Lando was beautifully written, perfectly cast and superbly portrayed. What kept me from absolutely loving the movie was that the writers didn't seem to be familiar with the title character, either that or they thought that they could reinvent him. It's as though they got him and Luke confused, and that played into both the actor's portrayal and the plot line. Had the original Han Solo been present, the story would have unfolded differently. Woody Harilson, Thandie Newton, and Paul Bettany all deliver solid performances of well conceived characters. Although I love the mother of dragons in some of her other roles, she didn't add a whole lot to her character here.
Go see it, enjoy it.
