Watchable but dumb Warning: Spoilers
The woman was so stupid because they needed her to get the gun that had the criminals prints on it. Without her, he's screwed and she should've used that leverage against him from the start.

A smart person would've let the criminal know he goes to prison without her help and who's really in charge there! Also, she had so many opportunities to just tell the police what's going on and get help.

She could've had her home and the hotel room surrounded by a SWAT team within minutes and ended it all quickly. The criminal over at the house wouldn't have killed the family with the SWAT team right outside.

The ending was laughable with the gun changing so many hands in the hotel room. And why on earth make the girl holding the gun on the criminal put the handcuffs on him when she needs to keep the gun held on him?! How dumb can you be? Why didn't the other girl do that so her friend can keep the gun on him?

I'm giving it 4 stars because the keystone cop ending was pretty funny.

Pretty Good for a Lifetime thriller!
tiffanytallent19817 January 2019
This movie is definitely worth watching once. I know I'll never watch again though. The acting is okay for a Lifetime movie. Sometimes the actors deliver lines without much emotion or they just stand there with blank expressions. And of course events that happen would never happen in real life, especially what the cops allow at the end. The movie was fast paced and interesting enough to want to know what was going to happen next. I also liked how the story played out with the female leads.

Hostage drama - pretty standard but watchable
phd_travel13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a Lifetime hostage drama. The story is quite formula. A Wife and mother meets up with a childhood best friend who is involved with a bag guy. Her family gets held at gun point while she has to go retrieve some incriminating evidence from her office.

The cast is attractive. Rosslyn Luke is pretty and watchable. The villain looks too clean cut.

Too much back and forth with the gun during the final fight sequences.

Ok for one watch.

Wild Gina Mancetti & Katy "the Greatie" Schultzman
lavatch26 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This Lifetime film was disappointing because of the extreme unpleasantness of the characters and the dramatic situations. The conceit is that of a reunion of two high school students, Gina Mancetti and Katy Schultzman. While Gina has never grown up and runs with the wrong crowd, Katy is happily married with two children and lives her life conservatively. But, fatefully, the immature Gina returns and disrupts Katy's happy life, turning it into the nightmare of the film's title.

From the outset, it is difficult to empathize with Katy after she abruptly leaves her husband and children for a day-long reunion with Gina. The women return to their old Lakeridge High School to reminisce about the past. They enter their old haunt of the drug store where they shop lift a bottle of peach brandy. Both women are complicit in stealing.

Then, Katy is introduced to Gina's boyfriend Ray, who, as a prank, pulls a knife on the unsuspecting Gina. Next, Katy is taken captive and forced to retrieve a gun at her place of work where Ray had murdered a young security guard. In the process, Ray murders the kind pharmacist Mr. Webster, brutally stabbing him. Katy's kids and her husband are held at gunpoint by Ray's boot-licking brother Ronnie.

At some point, the fimmakers could have sought some redeeming values in this overly violent film. The denouement was especially troubling in that Gina is let off with what is likely a six-month prison term after being an accomplice to two murders, theft, and kidnapping. As Felicity Huffman received a two-week prison sentence for having her kid's SAT scores doctored, the sixth-month term for Gina's role in a crime spree leaves a head-scratching feeling when, at the end, Katy reconciles with her friend and plans to renew their friendship after Gina's stint in prison!

Woof!

Holy Crap! Who writes this rubbish?

Warning: Spoilers
A real bundle of garbage. A ridiculous plot with rubbish script and poor acting all round! Seriously so unreal, even by TV movie standards. The final act in particular was outrageously stupid. What cops would let a couple of hysterical woman walk into a hostage situation, between them and an idiot with a gun??? Watch a Disney cartoon instead - it will more than likely have a more realistic plot!

Gina is a horrible friend from start to finish
CranberriAppl21 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Typical hostage movie. The main character's voice irritated me. I'm sure it was an acting choice for her to sound like she was always ready to cry, but I just wanted her to clear her throat. It was too annoying throughout the movie.. The husband and kids didn't have much to do, so they were fine. The kids were smart which was great to see.

The climax was SO RIDICULOUS. The COP let them run away and then allowed himself to be distracted enough for Ray to take his gun. Come on. Then Katy and Gina being allowed to leave the scene right out of the front door was so silly. No officer would risk a career in order to let two civilians handle a hostage situation. Sure, I get it...drama for the movie, but it's so absurd. Gina should be in cuffs!!

This movie would have been 10x better had Gina sacrificed herself for Katy. Gina is a terrible friend and an apology on the way to her reduced sentence doesn't negate that she got Katy involved in the first place. Asking for forgiveness doesn't cut it for me. Trying to redeem her was very unsatisfying but it's par for the course where Lifetime tries to make the female criminals not as guilty. Clearly Katy learned nothing since she did forgive her.

This is not a movie I would watch again.

Nightmare Best Friend - Accurately titled.
sara_boyle30 December 2018
Who needs enemies when you have friends like that? Definitely a tense movie where you're worried about who will die next! The movie was perfectly cast - sometimes with lifetime movies the quality of the acting isn't so great. That isn't the case with this one. Everyone was great! Even the children. Next showing is January 1st on Lifetime! Check your local listings!

A Lifetime Film Worth Seeing
phlpgpsn3 January 2019
I've enjoyed watching "Nightmare Best Friend." The crime-spree storyline was pretty good in my book. The acting certainly blew me away, especially from the two female leads.
