Accurate story, well done

As a lifelong Indiana resident who was a basketball fan during this era and watched IU over the years I would say that this is very well done and very accurate. Knight was always an explosive figure and if you didn't have the Bloomington blinders on one could readily see his character issues. That is my only comment about the portrayal - all of the state of Indiana was not blind or intimidated by Knight, only IU and the Bloomington area. He was not a diety to us all. We saw what he was.

Great Info, Poor Presentation

This documentary's style can't match its content. Although it offers in-depth, well researched information, it's the most run-of-the-mill, least engaging 30 For 30 episode so far. How do you make Knight's story boring? Even the narrator seems to be falling asleep.

30 for 30: The Last Days of Knight (2018)

**** (out of 4)

Here's yet another wonderful entry in ESPN's 30 for 30 series with this one here being directed and narrated by Robert Abbott. Abbott was the CNN reporter who broke the story about why certain players were leaving Indiana University including Neil Reed. It would turn out that Reed and Knight had a physical altercation that would lead to the downfall of the legendary coach.

As an avid sports fan it's always great to see a new episode of this series. It's even better when you remember the events that the documentary is cover as you can bring your own prospective into it. I've always said that Knight was my favorite basketball coach and I still remember the anger that I felt when he was fired from Indiana. As shown in the film, there was a major outrage and I was right there with them. This documentary shows how Reed pretty much became a victim twice.

This was an exceptionally good documentary that does a fantastic job at explaining why Knight is one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport but it also does a great job at explaining what happened during the final months at Indiana. The documentary doesn't feature too many interviews and I'm curious if that's because people simply don't want to speak on the subject or if Knight still holds enough power to where people don't want to cross him.

I do wish that there had been more interviews but it's understandable why there isn't. With that being said, the story didn't end when Knight was fired and the film turns rather depressing when we see and hear what happened to Reed. I won't spoil anything here for those who don't know the story but looking back at my own reactions to the story, I can't help but feel really bad and I'm sure others who were attacking him and threatening him will feel even worse.

Typical of what has happened to ESPN

Wow, a former CNN and MSNBC guy doing a hit piece on a great coach with a temper. No doubt Knight was wrong but he also shaped the lives of many men that will stand up for him. This is very typical of the softening of our country.

Too biased for 30 For 30.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't like basketball or care one way about Indiana, but you could tell from the outset that this was a biased hit-piece. It focuses way too much on Neal Reed and far too little on what's different in coaching standards from the 70s to 2000.

And the other worst part? This biased reporter decided to narrate the documentary himself, and I assure you, his voice is not magnetic. I honestly could've watched a 2 minute YouTube video on the same subject and extrapolated far more pertinent information and in an enjoyable manner. To watch this is to slog through one-sided reporting.

Stay away from at all costs.
