Whilst on a winter jaunt to Norway, The Doctor (Chris Hoyle) notices the Aurora Borealis are uncommonly bright. A visit to U.N.I.T is in order, but the Brigadier has problems of his own - midst a spate of unexplained stranglings at the hands of infected people with glowing green eyes, the arrival of The Doctor and Charlotte (Emma Bone) is timely to say the least, especially with escaped stranglers loose around the H.Q.

Earth is starting to degenerate into chaos - the epidemic is working it's way through ecosystems and food-webs, and The Doctor (Chris Hoyle) is powerless to intervene, caged-up in the disused warehouse where his long-standing adversary holds a Dalek army, ready to invade when word is given. All hope rests with Charlotte (Emma Bone), desperately trying to synthesize a serum for the epidemic before humanity destroys itself and the Daleks are awoken from their cryogenic slumber.

But, unbeknownst to him, Davros' distress-call has summoned a Dalek response-team, now heading to his rescue. Imprisoned in his own 'Time-Scoop', the Master seems doomed as the flailing end of the vortex sweeps indiscriminately across the cosmos, that is, until it latches onto the Scout-Ship of one of his longest-standing allies, heading to Earth to retrieve an abandoned army. As he whiles away the Summer repairing the TARDIS, not only is The Doctor blissfully unaware of the approaching rescue-craft, but he will also have to make the ultimate sacrifice if the Master and his new-found confederates are going to be stopped.

But there's more players in the game, and when the Master sets off to Gallifrey to launch his takeover bid, the Doctor must go it alone and leave Flynn and Devlin stranded on Earth.
