Demented
justshutupandwatchit20 July 2019
This film is completely deranged. I had no idea what was happening for most of the second half. It's like a Ren & Stimpy gross-out fused with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, only more confusing. A bewildering montage of drugs, vomiting, loud music, feces, unexplained mould growth, paranoia, and bad trip nightmares. The ending is utterly bizarre and makes zero sense. If you're into being very confused, and not prone to seizures, you'll probably enjoy it.

Hilarious!

If you've been there, you'll get it. If you haven't, it'll just seem like 2 hours of weirdness. Definitely not a date movie, unless your date is on LSD. Loved the all the main characters. Some real laugh-out-loud moments.

Acid House Mayhem
wrotten_tomato1 May 2019
I'm having flashbacks! I think it's fair to say that how much you enjoy this movie is going to depend on how many drugs you have taken in your life. It's best described as a roller-coaster acid trip set in the future. It begins coherently and rapidly becomes somewhat incomprehensible, yet somehow seems to hang together. The old-school soundtrack is fantastic and will take you right back to the 90s rave days. Quite entertaining. Surround yourself with the like-minded friends to watch it. It helps :) I was surprised to see how much you can achieve from such a (comparatively) small budget.

Fantastic movie...
Call-Me-Mr-Smith16 December 2019
...If you take psilocybin before watching (but don't, you shouldn't use illicit substances). In essence, a post-adolescent take on movie making, in all its glory. A few bright points (mostly tech dept, plus a few script snippets), otherwise, catering only to that special niche (friends, family, insomniacs...). Because one star is a new ten, 1/10 - I'd blame it on shills, they made me do it (in the analog world, this would be 3/10).

Strange, engaging, quotable
joanneinthebeach17 May 2020
What a strange but engaging film. I found myself immediately drawn to the main characters in their search for the perfect drug. So many comments on our society strung throughout the film, and many times I wanted to stop the film to write down some of what I'd called quotables... (I will view the film again to capture these). It had some queasy moments, but since they made sense to the plot, it was tolerable (I tend to have a weak stomach)... Loved the shots of Toronto, too. Made the film seem all the more real. Memorable flick!

Future Cult Classic

Just had the pleasure of watching this film. Outstanding! Well shot well acted amazing retro soundtrack. Know alot of people involved in that side and great to hear on a feature film. Some really funny bits as well. Love some of the props. The finger on the stick is my favourite. I want one. Think a bit of a cult classic here Super stuff.

A Post-War On Drugs Triumph
TheAll-SeeingI11 September 2019
"Belushi's Toilet" is a brilliantly conceived film set in a near-term future in which the war on drugs has finally been declared a loss; everything and anything is now legal. On the low-down, pharmaceutical company brew master Mason responds to those conditions by attempting to craft the ultimate drug experience. It'll require human testing, so for the greater good, Mason and his mates step in to fill the traditional role of lab rats.

It's a fantastic and unexplored premise made fully realized by great storytelling, as "Belushi's Toilet" shrewdly avoids the trap of taking sides and moralizing, and instead projects this free-form world of all-legal drugs as a logical inevitability of existing trends.

Melding science fiction with our love of drug culture explorations, "Belushi's Toilet" offers the best of both worlds by creating one that's entirely its own.

Fantastic, mind-numbing trip(s)
mazen-baradhy20 April 2019
Andrew Wright has created a very original piece of film making, anchored with highly creative screenwriting, solid acting, and excellent work behind the camera (big shout out to DOP Voitek Pendrak) and in visual effects, not to mention his eclectic soundtrack (including EDM tracks Wright wrote himself). This little gem will take you on a continuous, drug-infused trip (make that multiple trips), interspersed with several dark humor moments, and under a sci-fi/futuristic umbrella. It's a fine testament to what you can achieve when you have a dream and a vision, even when working with a tiny budget, and a reminder to everyone to support independent filmmakers and what they can bring to enrich our cultural lives.

Brilliantly thought out futuristic science fiction drug Ballard. Laugh out loud, thought provoking, stomach churning, face gurning, foot tapping fun.

A crazy fun journey.

This indie took me on a ride. I did not know what to expect going into the film but I was kinda glad I didn't. The story is very large. They take some risks with the filming and the way they portray drugs in the film and I loved being able to see that. They are also some very deep thoughts along the way. It feels like it drops in and the audience is allowed to breath and then in the next scene we are back on the run.

Great hangover movie
MCups24 September 2019
I really enjoyed this! I watched a couple of episodes when it was a web series on YouTube but now it's been cut into one film and it's on Amazon Prime, so it's an easy watch on a morning after the night before. The idea is pretty cool and I loved the little jokes, like the names of places and people (DJ Burst Reynolds) it's obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the details. If you remember the rave music of the 90s there are some great "oh I'd forgotten about this one" moments. Probably the funniest threesome scene I've ever seen too 😝

Explores drug issues without getting preachy
alanakmd8 November 2019
In the near future, any and all drugs are legal. Mason sets out to create the perfect drug, and he and his friends are the guinea pigs to test it. Loved that this sci-fi drama didn't beat us over the head with the morality of the issue. Very unique concept. Thoroughly enjoyed!
