Super stuff.
BA_Harrison22 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Episode two of Amazon's highly enjoyable and very demented superhero series is another twisted slice of sex, violence, swearing and general deviant behaviour. Having rendered Translucent (Alex Hassell) unconscious, Billy and Hughie (Karl Urban and Jack Quaid) seek help from Frenchie (Tomer Capon), who tries to figure out a way to kill their invisible enemy.

In a typically outrageous turn for the show, 'The Boys' surmise that the only effective method of disposing of the see-thru supe is to plant a bomb up his backside (cue a very messy explosion at the end!). Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) becomes more and more disheartened by her dream job as part of The Seven, who are controlled by evil corporate Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue).

A refreshingly different take on the otherwise very tired superhero genre, The Boys' adults-only content ensures a fun time for those who always suspected that superheroes might take advantage of their special abilities. This episode's other hilarious highlight sees a senator allowing himself to be tied up and blindfolded by a sexy lady, unaware that she is a shapeshifter, who transforms into a fat naked dude and takes photos of them for blackmail purposes.

8/10. Not for the easily offended, but perfect for those with a dark sense of humour.

Popping Translucent's Cherry
injury-6544716 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of this episode I merely thought this was a solid follow up to episode one. But wow, the second half was amazing! Full of excitement and thrills.

My highlights were:
  • using the doppelgänger for blackmail
  • getting an insight into Homelander's perversions
  • the creative way of dealing with Translucent's impenetrable skin

We also get a continuation of the Starlight arc as she plays the naive defender of justice. Upsetting her handlers as she doesn't stay on her leash.

We also find out that The Deep isn't the number two, but merely "the fish guy". Hahaha.

This was absolutely amazing, the acting is solid from the entire cast and the story is intriguing to follow.

I also love the Cherry Bomb joke.

One of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

"Keep your hands clean!"

Another fantastic episode. To say it was only an hour, the story telling was incredibly tight. The Annie storyline continues to be very well written. Of course the standout of this episode had to be the girl in the alley storyline. According to the logic of Corporate, Starlight's actions are only morally justified so long as her reputation stays in tact. At this point in the story it's clear that the superheroes aren't vigilantes at all - they've become corporatised, and turned into empty idols, devoid of any morality or anything of substance.

Favourite scene
hsaakairo27 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Upon second viewing, I changed my rating from an 8 to a 9 for this episode. That scene in a backroom of "Tony Cisero's" when Hughie gets to know Frenchie was so captivating and amazing performed. Pure class. "It's like scars in a way, you know?"

The ass bomb

Warning: Spoilers
Billy, Hughie and Frenchie make a great team and Frenchie found a hilarious way to kill Translucent and Hughie finally found out what it feels like to kill someone. The doppelgänger was hilarious, too.

Great second episode
Luisvtw17 October 2021
The second episode was slower paced but it was still a good episode and made a lot of fun to watch. I definitely want to watch more of it now. And I hope it stays good.

Dark and grounded
Leofwine_draca6 April 2022
A slightly slower second episode, taking time out to ground and get to know the characters better. Karl Urban is excellent here and Erin Moriarty surprisingly good too. The material is darker than ever and the climax a real show-stopper.

Get Out of The Cage
ZegMaarJus11 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with Hughie, he just electrocuted Translucent at the store. Hughie discovered that Billy isn't a fed. Translucent survived the electrocution. The Deep has a meeting with Homelander. Starlight fights with two guys when she sees that a girl almost got raped. Starlight is in big problems after she have beaten 2 guys unconscious. Translucent escaped out of the cage. Cherie exploded their base. Hughie let Translucent explode, he has blood on his face. Nice Episode of The Boys Season 1, a little bit less action this episode. But still great to see how the story goes on!

S1.E2 - Loved Every Minute [9.2/10]
panagiotis199319 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E2) My Reaction / Review for The Boys Season 1 Episode 2 ''Cherry'': Episode 1 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Translucent is alive? I didn't see that coming. Now Frenchie joins the team, really nice. A-train is so annoying and egotistical. Homelander is such a psychopath, thinking that he did the right thing killing the mayor. There is definitely something going on between Homelander and Madelyn. It seems like Translucent is not easy to kill. I hope they will find a way though. Hughie seems to be very scared and it makes sense. Homelander is such a perv. Madelyn will do anything for things to go her way, it's disgusting. Wow they found a way to kill Translucent? That's awesome and the way they found is really funny too. Hughie kills Translucent and its the first time he kills a person, nice. Another amazing episode, I loved every minute of it. My rating is 9.2/10.

Decent second episode.
cruise0125 August 2019
3 out of 5 stars.

The first episode set the bar high with being a fast moving, exciting and funny dark take on the superhero genre. The second episode slows down. Starlight is conflicted with how the seven is running things. Homelander is on the search for Translucent. Hughie, Billy, and Frenchie their new helper figure out what to do with Translucent. The episode dives deeper with the conspiracy with the seven. This episode lacks the fun energy and is a little boring.

One thing that bothers me
cchamomilla24 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Overall it is a good show. However, in this episode Ashley scolds Starlight for "blowing her secret identity" Whaaaat? So people cannot recognize her when in white clothes, clearly on a national television but not while wearing jeans and tshirt and being recorded by a cell phone at night? This is completely ridicoulous.

Politics and the boys get messy
shwetafabm19 August 2020
I enjoyed the boys part quite a lot, Translucent was pretty great, i personally find the whole politics talk boring generally but that's a personal thing, the show is definitely geared towards the whole political, social take of superheroes. Lots of talking, not what i love. All the hero guys in this show are pervs...ok. Honestly i don't get the whole, this show is outlandishly gory or dirty as of now. Maybe its just a direct comparison of Marvel because on its own its really not that crazy, sure its crazy, but i suppose the problem for me is how much the cast and reviewers amped it up, i guess the perversion is what the fuss is about. Maybe that's just my taste, i have only been watching horror movies and dexter and supernatural and some action movies for this past 1 year. I think the darkest journey here is Hughie's and the moral dilemma he has.

I think...
LegendaryFang563 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Madelyn is going out of her depth, pushing Homelander's buttons like that. That's going to end up biting her in the ass sooner or later. He may not have a problem with it, at the moment, on top of being obsessed with her, but that's definitely not going to last long. In fact, he's already going about, doing his own thing without her permission or orders. It's only a matter of time before her demise falls upon her.

Funny take on the superhero genre
aayesha-memon28 April 2020
Homelander has x-ray vision & super hearing power.surely He can hear translucent talkin to hugh inside as well as Frenchies accelerAted beating heart.

Second thought ,why would hugh kill trans at all? He gave them the info he was seeking . Also hugh mentioned earlier he wasn't a murderer.
