- Aurora Hernandez is a normal girl doing her best to live a normal life. School, family, friends - But as her bipolar mother becomes increasingly unhinged, Aurora finds herself looking for a way to bring order to her chaotic life.
- Aurora Hernandez is a girl who has let family obligation and the emotional instability of her mother (Georgia) dictate her entire life. But when she meets a handsome young law student (Landon), she sees a path out of the chaos she's always known, and the promise of order and self-confidence. But escaping the influence of her mother is easier said than done. As Aurora works through law school and tries to build a relationship with Landon, Georgia pursues Aurora with dysfunctional, self-destructive, and codependent behavior. As Aurora nears her goal of becoming a lawyer, and her family's world becomes increasingly unhinged, her fierce commitment to her own independence goes too far. She falls into an emotional tailspin that causes her to fail the bar exam and torpedo her relationship with Landon. At her lowest point, she learns that independence fueled by anger is no independence at all. It's a prison in its own right. She learns that: "Forgiveness doesn't fix other people... It sets you free." So Aurora decides to make amends, to forgive and seek forgiveness for the damage done along her journey. Her goal was good, but her methods were destructive and dysfunctional. She finally sees, and accepts, that she's not all that different from her mother. Ultimately, Aurora's Law is a film that speaks to universal themes of faith, love, loyalty to family, forgiveness, mental illness, and the need for healthy boundaries. Aurora's law is a family drama that explores the concepts of faith, family and forgiveness while addressing the issues of mental health inside of family dynamics.
