- A passenger is stabbed to death on the express bus to Honore. Jack and his team are at a loss to explain how a man nobody even approached was murdered without anyone else on the bus seeing anything at all.
- Paul Raynor is fatally stabbed on the back row of the privately run bus from the port to the capital Honoré on the day he arrived after a prison term in Guadeloupe. He sat next to the back entrance, which is stuck from the outside, restricting the suspects to the people aboard, who could all easily be seen by others. While Jack's team meets Florence's fiance Patrice Campbell, initially mistaken for the awaited police reinforcement in Dwayne's absence overseas, all three other passengers and the bus driver are found suspicious. Oliver Carr, discharged from the British army for striking a superior, was hired by the casino Raynor robbed to follow him search for the never recovered cash loot. Bus driver Butterfly Brown moonlighted, being underpaid by manager Harold Crane, as document forger, but ignores who hired her. The knife is found besides the road, belonging to a female passenger who admits planning to kill him to revenge a loved-one but backed down, while another corresponded with him in jail for a rehab program he deserted. Jack is also puzzled that the key Paul carried fits a locker box containing only the undersized swimming trunks of local giant Elliot.—KGF Vissers
