I found this show gripping and educational. The sinking the of the Indianapolis was particularly educational. Since I live in Washington, the eruption of Mt. St. Helens struck home. I was living in the Bay Area during the earthquake. The earthquake started on the Loma Prieya fault not the San Andreas, the only complaint here.

Terrifying and Terrible

It may seem odd to say that a program featuring terrifying disasters is overly dramatic, but it's true. The narration is over the top and entirely predictable. The "expert" commentary is completely obvious if not moronic. "This was a violent tornado." Are there gentle tornadoes? The survivor commentary is predictably simple-minded, often reflecting the ignorance of the people impacted. So why include it? It's superfluous at best, and mostly idiotic. "God saved me because I prayed." Really? You were the chosen one? Why did God create the tornado in the first place?! Finally, the suspense of waiting for who actually did survive borders on being sadistic. Overall, the show is a badly produced, predictable, and hackneyed waste of time.
