"Buried" continues to explore the aftermath of Nick's death and its impact on the group dynamics
Al finally manages to coax info out of Alicia's group where they reveal the Vultures attempted to starve them out of the stadium. They share regrets of the choices they made which led them to the path they're on now because it led to Nick's death. They arrive at a spot where Alicia's group buried a cash of weapons. One of the guns is shown to be Naomi's and the one he gave to woman named Laura. He deduces they are the same person and decides to search for her on foot with Morgan accompanying him.
In the past, Luciana and Nick go on a run and find an atlas to help the group expand their supply runs and find locations the Vultures don't know about. Alicia and Naomi's run involves the latter attempting to flee on several occasions as she doesn't believe that the stadium will survive.
Season 4, Episode 4 of "Fear the Walking Dead," titled "Buried," continues to explore the aftermath of Nick's death and its impact on the group dynamics. The episode focuses on the fallout of the Vultures' attack and the subsequent burial of Nick, delving into themes of grief, guilt, and the struggle to maintain humanity in the face of overwhelming loss.
The episode opens with a somber tone as the group copes with Nick's death and prepares to bury him. This sequence is emotionally charged, highlighting the deep bonds between the characters and the pain of losing a loved one in such a harsh world. As they lay Nick to rest, tensions within the group rise, particularly between Alicia and Morgan, who have conflicting approaches to coping with grief and seeking revenge.
"Buried" also explores the moral dilemmas faced by the survivors, especially Madison and Strand, as they navigate their choices in the post-Nick world. Madison's decision to seek vengeance against the Vultures by attacking their camp reflects her inner turmoil and her desperate need for justice. Conversely, Strand's reluctance to join her in this mission showcases his moral ambiguity and his desire to avoid further bloodshed.
The episode's climax comes when Madison and the group launch their attack on the Vultures' camp, resulting in a violent confrontation that further blurs the lines between right and wrong. The action-packed scenes are juxtaposed with moments of introspection and reflection, highlighting the complexity of the characters' emotions and the difficult decisions they must make to survive.
