Seem i want to use fast forward button on some slow scene that suppose to make me feel for . i cant get around they all speak in English when its happening somewhere in asia .also the white are Deutch. I would have prefer subtitles for realism and atmosphere. The soundtrack /sounds is only passable. same wt cameras. lots of fighting women. at episode 2, I hope it get better Style/Edit/direction wise , my expectations are too high sadly.

Gritty, Gory, Great

Honestly, the best western TV series since Deadwood. A western you say? Yes, to all intents and purposes thats what it is. Questionable "good guys", even more questionable (and borderline insane) "bad guys", and gritty narrative set in a small town that isnt a million miles from Deadwood. At times its a bit hammy, it borrows aspects from the great spaghetti westerns and ninja movies, but thoroughly entertaining.

Really hope that HBO give this a wider audience by showing it on the main US network. It deserves it.

An Asian Production

Nothing wrong with it per se. Good attempt but.... It comes with corny humour, exaggerated acting, affected dialogue. But there is some action. With a lot of moralising. An average series.

Comparisons to Deadwood are Dead on Balls Accurate

This is basically a spaghetti western set in Indonesia, and they take full advantage of the locale by giving us several factions all fighting over the heart of Grisse- a walled garrison where the drug trade is paramount and everyone is after the next, more potent formula for heroin. Great characters, good pacing, and revenge upon revenge story. What's not to like? Oh, I suppose if you're all upset and belong to the "wOkE/Go brOKE" crowd, you'll leave some piss poor review; that's okay. It's still an excellent series.

As I write, mine is the third review showing on IMDB for this. The other two both have the words 'gritty, gory' in their titles . . . hmmmmmm . . .

I didn't see any gritty gory stuff. What i saw was slow, boring, bad. Bad everything, writing? The mother says, 'now listen' twice in the first three minutes. No change in inflection or timing. The opening chase scene? Y a w n. So there's acting, writing and directing. Set? Trees. Camerawork: sigh, just nothing. Nothing. This thing is not worth any time or attention. DOA. NO.

Uninspired, formulaic. Your typical politically correct fill.in.the.blank pandering narrative. I mean cmon. Asians speaking english with western colloquialisms?!? Definitely a rush job or straight up propoganda piece.
