We Have a Ghost (2023)

Goofs

We Have a Ghost

Edit

Continuity

During the car chase, seat belts appear and disappear between scenes. Mostly they're not worn until after a closeup about halfway through the chase.
When Kevin exits the car after his father tells him to, he grabs his cell phone with his right hand and opens the door. However, in the next cut showing him out of the car, there is nothing in his hand.
It is mentioned that humans can't touch ghosts, but ghosts can touch humans. At the end, June is able to touch his cheek. [However, this could be a special case, as it is his loving daughter touching him after 50 years.]

Factual errors

When the family first sees the house, Kevin remains in the car. He should not be able to use the power windows long after the key is out of the ignition.
(at around 5 mins) There is a black spider crawling down the wall with a red hourglass/triangular shape on its back. It would appear that it is supposed to be a black widow spider, but black widow spiders have their distinctive red triangular/hourglass markings on the underside of their abdomen, not the back.
At the beginning, the moon is shown setting down and to the left. In the Northern Hemisphere, the moon would be setting down and to the right.
The YouTube layout Kevin is watching is not the same as a real YouTube layout. The menus on both the left and the right would appear much different. This includes the YouTube Premium "play" logo which would be red with a white logo instead of white with a black logo, as well as the views count which would be dated in days, weeks, months, and years as opposed to a specific date.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

There is no way someone could be thrown through a stained-glass window as depicted. These windows consist of many tiny pieces of glass fitted into a framework, usually made of metal or a type of cement, then covered with soft lead. It would be like throwing someone into a small, tight fishing net.

While this likely is true of "real" stained glass windows, the attic window in the house appears to be faux stained glass, in which case it would be significantly less sturdy.
The Presleys are supposed to be poor; the mother says they cannot afford a lawyer. Yet they hire movers rather than rely on two strong boys and their father, and pay more for organic oranges.

There's a significance "spin" difference between not being able to afford a lawyer or paying an extra couple dollars for organic fruits and vegetables. And while using a moving company is more expansive than a DIY move, there's much more peace of mind in having a company once your household belongings exceed the size of a U-Haul.
When the dad throws a box down, he tells Kevin there are 10 more on the truck. However, that is the job of the hired movers. Additionally, in the next cut, Kevin is shown carrying a box from their car and not the truck.

Some people feel a need to help unload their belongings. As long as the moving company does not have a rule against it, the moving employees likely appreciate the help, especially as the owners will know where in the house their boxes need to be. Also, there are some types of belongings a moving company will not transport (e.g., alcohol, garden/lawn chemicals), so boxes in the car are not unexpected. As for a teenager doing something other than what the parent tells him (i.e., getting a box from the car instead of the truck), the odds on that likely are pretty close to 50-50.
When the agent shows the house to the Presley family, she informs them a cleaning crew cannot come until Tuesday. However, the house is a fixer-upper; a cleaning crew would not be required.

However, the sales contract may have specified that a cleaning would be performed, or it might simply be a "welcome" service provided the the real estate company or the town's chamber of commerce.
Generally, when a house is being sold, there is a lock-box on the door. However, when the agent shows the house to the Presley family, she opens up the door without a key.

"Generally" does not mean always. A real estate agent with a key to a house is not unheard of.

Revealing mistakes

The size of the interior and the exterior of the haunted do not match at all. The interior shots show a grand double staircase, three rooms abreast on the ground floor, and an attic in which you could play football.
The house has several large holes in the roof with sunlight pouring in visible in the attic scenes. Despite this, there is surprisingly no water damage to the floor, despite there being quite a lot of rain in many scenes. There also likely would be wild animals taking up residence in the house, more than the mouse that is seen between floors in one short transition.

Plot holes

When Frank discovers his sons' footage of the ghost in the house, he is extremely concerned about his wife freaking out if she sees the footage. Therefore, he makes his sons swear not to let her see it. However, he then goes and publishes the footage on YouTube, a public platform to which his wife would have easy access. Frank is an intelligent man and would be well aware of this fact. The film does not explain this conflict.

Character error

(at around 1h 24 mins) When Ernest is kidnapped by government officials in the hotel room, he could have become invisible and run off to avoid being captured.

Ernest was captured at his brother in law's house, and he couldn't escape by going invisible because the team had infrared goggles. He would appear the same through them whether he went invisible or not, or only slightly different if going invisible caused a few degrees change momentarily. He'd still be close to absolute zero in either form, visible or invisible. His only option would be to jump in a wall, but they'd still know where he was. They would just tear the house down to the framing until they found him or he gave up.
