Wonderful wholesome movie

My family and I loved this movie. It was entertaining and I would definitely watch it again. It a faith centered film amd family friendly. The actors and actresses were perfect for this film. I'm glad that there are still christian movies being made.

funny and heartwarming!

We usually wait until we see IMDb ratings before seeing any movie, but were so ready to see anything after a pandemic year that we took a chance on Walking with Herb, and are SO GLAD we did! The movie was laugh-out-loud funny and also very well-done emotional moments that brought us to tears. Edward James Olmos and George Lopez gave great performances and the screenplay was extremely well done. Highly recommend -

Golf as a metaphor for life.

Warning: Spoilers
It is disheartening to note the large number of "1" votes for this movie, no doubt because it has a meaningful focus on faith and God. Not a "hit you over the head" focus but it is a running thread all the way through. What you believe and how you live your life are the most important things. My wife and I just finished watching this movie, on DVD from our public library, and it is a delightful movie.

Set and shot in New Mexico, Joe is a 65-yr-old bank president who is in a funk after just losing his baby granddaughter and his son-in-law. His frame of mind is mostly, if there is a good God how could he allow these things to happen?

A wildly dressed man on a motorcycle shows up, he encourages Joe to get his old golf clubs out and sharpen up his game, he will qualify for and attempt to win the Championship of the World Entire, as a way to help his daughter and her school that is deep in debt and nearing foreclosure. Is this man an angel? Or maybe even more?

My wife and I are golfers, maybe that is partly why we were so entertained. Most of the second half of the movie is golf competition. But also the script is so well written and the actors so good in their roles, I would hope non-golfers would be entertained also. But more important, the good message about belief, family, and friendship.

Need an Uplifting movie....

Very entertaining movie, you hit all the emotions in 1 hr 50 min...struggling with faith, this movie will make you think....golf was a great vehicle for the plot....the golf a little contrived but that was not the point of the movie....no cussing, sex, violence, etc.

Great Movie - It's What's The World Needs
joannlouis2 November 2021
I see how low the reviews are for this movie, of course due to the world taking a downfall towards the Pagan lifestyle (of living free and doing whatever they want, despite how it affects the soul and most importantly God). I can talk so much about this topic since I too once practiced occult and rebellion behaviors. I turned from my faith and was brought back to it in the year 2020 very similar to Joe in this movie. God sent some miraculous supernatural things my way that only a believer can understand. As a backslider who rarely read the word, I thought I was losing my mind when I saw those supernatural things. God opened my eyes and removed the confusing energy that had a strong hold on me for so long. God helped remove the pride, ego and greed for success. Once I started to open my life daily to Him, got to know Him through prayer and His word he reviewed many hidden truths. The Lord will make moves on our behaves and restore US but we must be open to make the 1st step. HE TRULY LOVES US!!! This movie made me cry and thank God for the writer. I pray this movie touches many more people especially the lost who run after the things of this material world which will be perishing very soon.

Uplifting, Funny and Addresses The Ability to Have a Second Chance
rannynm5 May 2021
Full of faith, belief and second chances comes the new indie film Walking With Herb. This movie will make you laugh, cry, and will take your breath away with each heartfelt second. If you've ever wondered about what's going on in the world above the clouds, Walking With Herb is the movie for you.

Walking With Herb is about Joe Amable-Amo (Edward James Olmos), who is a bank executive and former golfer. He struggles with his faith after a terrible event takes place. Faced with doubts about himself and his belief in God, Joe is stunned when God tells him that he's been chosen to play in a world championship golf tournament. As he is guided by Herb, God's special personal messenger, Joe learns that all you need to do is have faith.

While I was watching Walking With Herb, I noticed a lot of creativity in the storyline. I don't know how anyone connected God to winning a golf tournament, but somehow the director, Ross Kagan Marks, found a way to make the whole story seem logical. Even though the story works, I didn't enjoy that the film seems a bit rushed. I understand that you only have so much time when making a movie, but I would've enjoyed seeing a bit more development of the emotional arc of the characters other than Joe. It also almost felt like the story was on a straight line once Joe received the message from God. There are no plot twists or turns until the end. Lastly, I love the relationship between Joe and his wife, Sheila (Kathleen Quinlan.) The relationship between the two actors feels very genuine and real. Their conversations flow, and they have the sass of an older married couple.

The message of Walking With Herb is to continue to always have faith, no matter what. This message is shown throughout the movie as Joe turns back to God, even after all that happens to him and his family. His faith is also what leads Joe to do so well in the Golf tournament. If he did not believe in God and himself, he wouldn't have been able to go from not golfing for years to one of the world's best golfers.

I give Walking With Herb 4 out of 5 stars, and recommend it for ages 10 to 18, plus adults. Reviewed by Allison B., KIDS FIRST!

God and golf what a beautiful combo!!! Have you ever heard big deals are made on the golf course? Well it's true God is the biggest deal you can sign with, he truly heals and makes things possible through faith! Not to mention humor sprinkled in the film is the icing on the cake. Great personnel and great scouting for film God bless!!!

good movie

It was well done, well acted, a little quirky, but I liked it a lot. The story was engaging and not boring. There is a lot to be said for faith and trust, somewhere along the way the world has lost much of this.
