While cooking a Sichuan dinner for Meemaw, Dr. Sturgis shows and explains the effect of a Sichuan pepper. Mistakenly, he shows a common dried red chili pepper and not Sichuan peppercorns. Sichuan peppercorns are not chili peppers. Chilis have capsaicin as the heat source, whereas peppercorns are from a the prickly ash tree and have a numbing effect, not heat. Chinese call the numbing effect mapo, thus the mapo chicken stir-fry he prepares in the show.
George Sr. and Missy are supposed to be at Red Lobster, but the interior of the restaurant they were in isn't what a Red Lobster looked like in 1989.
